How Are Those Rookies Doing?

Khyree Jackson might have had a real chance to see significant playing time had he not been in a car accident and passed. This opens up an opportunity for Dwight McGlothern to make the team possibly.

JJ McCarthy is still QB2 but might be kept as QB3 to protect him from having to play too early in his career.

Dallas Turner should see significant playing time this year.

UDFA Trey Knox looks good but is fighting in a loaded TE group.

Will Reichard won the kicker job already.

According to some of our "media", most if not all of the rookies have been measured for the HOF jackets. :-)

One week of mostly no pads.  Vets showing the rookies how to practice.

Payton Wilson has shown great burst and speed when asked to rush.

Roman Wilson is looking smooth but there are a lot of WR in camp but he can run routes well and is a willing blocker.

The oline is tough to call.  Fautanu is getting reps at RT.  Frazier is getting reps at center.  McCormick getting 2nd/3rd team reps at OG and getting practice making snaps.

With Jones trying to move to LT, that is making 2 rookies and 1 position switch plus a new offense.  It could be a while before they all jell.

Nothing much on Logan Lee(DT) or Ryan Watts(CB).  They are practicing and learning.

Edit:

I should mention UDFA Beanie Bishop is getting 1st team reps at NCB ( which is a hole in the defense coming into camp) and is looking good.

Still can't believe he fell as far as he did in the draft. Arguably the most talented defensive player in the draft as a late 3rd round pick is insane.

Round 1: No. 25- Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona All reports say his head was spinning a bit in OTAs. Is in the competition for RG with Sean Rhyan currently. I think preseason games will play large in who gets that spot. Pads just went on so hard to grade how he has been. I really don't know if him not competing at tackle says more about him or more about him or what the Packers think about Rasheed Walker/RG position.

Round 2: No. 45- (from NO through DEN)-Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M: Shown some pretty nice flashes so far but again without pads its really hard to say till pads come on. As advertised so far.

Round 2: No. 58- Javon Bullard, S, Georgia: I would say one of the stars of camp. The athleticism is outstanding and has already had a number of splash plays.

Round 3: No. 88-MarShawn Lloyd, RB, USC: Has been injured all TC. Looked impressive in OTAs. His direct competition (Emmanuel Wilson) has balled out in TC so far.

Round 3: No. 91 (from BUF)-Ty’Ron Hopper, LB, Missouri: Has flashed a bit in TC and OTAs. He looks the part and is very athletic but probably won't know till full padded practices.

Round 4: No. 111 (from NYJ)-Evan Williams, S, Oregon: Along with Bullard has been a star of training camp. The safeties have been thriving early in camp.

Round 5: No 163 (from BUF)-Jacob Monk, C, Duke: Haven't heard much about him so far. Will most likely play a lot in preseason but clearly competing for a back up role over a starting position.

Round 5: No. 169-Kitan Oladapo, S, Oregon State: Been injured in TC but looked decent in OTAs.

Round 6: No. 202-Travis Glover, OT, Georgia State: Haven't heard a thing so far. May be a good thing or a bad thing who knows?

Round 7: No. 245-Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane: Has outplayed Clifford so far through camp and may end up taking the #2 QB job if he keeps it up. Rookie QB though and has had his fair share of struggles as well.

Round 7: No. 255--Kalen King, CB, Penn State: Been really good in TC so far. I don't know where he fits in as Alexander, Stokes, Valentine are all having really good TC so far as well. He may end up pushing Nixon for playing time in the slot if Nixon struggles at all.

Kamari Lassister is projected to be the starting CB opposite Stingley Jr.

Jawhar Jordan has apparently impressed in camp so far.  I would be shocked if Cam Akers make the team with Jordan playing so well.

Calen Bullock is showing his ball hawk skills

Those 3 rookies have stood out the most so far in camp for the Texans

Malik Nabers is a stud. In the rare occasions that he is covered, he's still open. Every Giants beat reporter, and even guest league wide reporters, have talked about how good he is.

2nd round S Tyler Nubin has had a calf injury and hasn't participated.

3rd round rookie corner Dru Philips looks really damn good. Just as sticky and annoying and athletic as advertised.

Nothing too much to write home about on Theo Johnson, Tyrone Tracy, Darius Muasau. Theo and Tracy have had some flashes.

UDFA G Jake Kubas has been impressive, relative to his UDFA status. He's been getting some first team reps. He is lightning fast working up to the 2nd level. I think he's gonna make the team.

WR Keon Coleman - has had a really good first week of camp. Making lots of plays, earning the trust of Allen and have been moved around the WR spots. Looks promising for a solid rookie year.

S Cole Bishop - has gotten work with the 1's but did leave practice today and was seen later with his shoulder wrapped. I suspect he doesn't make an impact on defense until mid season.

DT Dwayne Carter - apparently looks very steady and when the pads came on yesterday he played well.

RB Ray Davis - I have seen a lot of raving reviews - specifically in the passing game. Haven't seen anything about blitz pickup though.

OC Sedrick Van Pran-Grnager: Has been running with the 3rd team units mostly. Has gotten some 2nd team reps at Guard and C.

LB: Edefuan Ulofoshio: Have honestly not even seen his name mentioned once.

Edge Javon Solomon: Has done well. Likely finds himself as the 5th DE.

OT Tylan Gramble: Working with the teams 3rd units at both Tackle spots.

CB Daequan Hardy: Getting work at PR/KR and the 2nd team Nickel.

OL Travis Clayton: Essentially a redshirt season for him and camp has shown that.

as  much as Vikings coach O'Connell wants to hold McCarthy back and develop him slowly, he keeps getting better. kid is a fast learner.

Sean Borman@SeanBormanNFL

In red zone 7-on-7’s (NO pass rush), Sam Darnold went 2/6 with 0 TD’s. McCarthy went 4/6 with 4 TD’s

Why is this gif lower resolution than the refs brains when deciding to give the chiefs a free 1st down.

About as low resolution as Lamar Jackson is in the playoffs when it matters most
