The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has not undergone the same type of review as an FDA approved or cleared product.

Not sure if the people you cite as having side effects took the Moderna shots, but I know many who have that are now living (basically) normal lives. They may / may not be continuing to wear masks simply as a precaution against those around them who refuse to get vaccinated and the potential for variants. Otherwise - they went thru the process fine and are well today.

How will they be 6 months from now? Nobody knows. I could drop dead tomorrow for a whole host of medical reasons. (Not that I'm sick...just saying, you never know when cardiac arrest, stroke etc will come knocking on your door).

I think we're suffering from (in many ways....) an over informed populace - many of whom are seriously misinformed on a regular basis.

FDA: On December 18, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the second vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The emergency use authorization allows the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S for use in individuals 18 years of age and older.

///

CNN today:  Moderna has filed with the US Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization for its Covid-19 vaccine for people ages 12 to 17, according to a news release from the company. Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine is currently authorized for people ages 18 and older.

The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is an unapproved vaccine that may prevent COVID-19.

The FDA has authorized the emergency use of the vaccine.

Currently there is no FDA approved alternative vaccine available for the prevention of COVID-19.

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has not undergone the same type of review as an FDA approved or cleared product.

Yup.  Everything is consistent.

Didn't they recently start allowing 15 year old to get this one?

Could be - I dont keep up on this stuff regularly. I'm vaccinated and in many ways done. That snippet from CNN is from today - so, I'm not so sure the 15 years olds are getting Moderna yet.

You left one out.

So as NOT to overstate here......

Millions (Yes, with an M) people have taken the shot are are fine. I didnt use the B word cause I just dont know - but I bet its actually reached the billions level.

Not sure what statistical surety you seek.....but you might have better odds at winning the Powerball. Good luck to you and your family. Hope all stay healthy. The dice are in your hands.

I admire your passion.  I do.  Even though you make your point by coming across as an *** hat.

I just went and signed up for my shot.  I actually read the disclosure.  It is frightening.  I'm still going to do it, but it does scare me.

In case you didn't read it....

The Moderna COVID-10 Vaccine is a vaccine and may prevent you from getting COVID-19.  There is no US Food and Drug Administration approved vaccine to prevent COVID-19.

I am only doing this so that I can attend my father's Celebration of Life event.  If it were not for this event and my love for my father, I would wait until the FDA approved the vaccine.

Well, I'm glad you were convinced to get it with the plethora of statistical evidence and approval from the world's premier experts on the subject who universally recommend it. I am passionate about science and data-driven decisions for society because it is how we will progress as a species and build a better world for my children.

Every time a scientifically driven decision is made is a step in the right direction.

If it makes you feel better the Moderna vaccine is undergoing the normal review right now and it's going to pass.

This statement I agree with.

It is the science that I like concerning this vaccine.  What I do not like is how quickly it was rushed to the public without going through the FDA process.  I totally understand why it was done this way, but that was my only hesitation concerning getting the vaccination.  There have not been long term studies on this thing yet, as there just has not been enough time to do so.

I did get my first shot.  Really easy process.

Only side effect so far is a public display of masculinity in my pants.  Could have been about the vaccine.  Could have been the medical professional administering the shot.

It's not actually a new concoction. Many of the components of it came from Viagra.

I think this is the key misunderstanding here: There have been...a LOT of long-term studies performed on the active "thing" in the vaccine. It is not unique to COVID-19. mRNA vaccines are well studied for decades. There should have been a bigger information campaign to let the population know that the ingredients in the vaccine have been safely administered for decades. Like imagine Ford has built the Taurus for 30 years and has 30 years of crash test data. In 2021 they update the speakers and perform 75% of all the crash tests again with identical (overwhelmingly great) results to the last 10 years of models.

Would you feel unsafe in the 2021 Taurus until the final 25% of crash tests were performed knowing that the only change was to the speakers?

I would feel unsafe.

Ford put Firestones on Explorers a few years ago with horrible results.  Tires looked like they would work fine.  They were tested and passed with flying colors.  And failed miserably in reality.  You really chose the wrong car company for that example.

All funnin' aside, I know you feel like you are right.  I don't know if you are, or are not.

I'm going off of the FACT SHEET FOR RECIPIENTS AND CAREGIVERS.

Second paragraph..."There is no U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved vaccine to prevent COVID-19."

End of page 2.  HAS THE MODERNA COVID-19 VACCINE BEEN USED BEFORE?  The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is an unapproved vaccine.

Not tires. Speakers.
