I know he is not what he used to be(talk about a flash in the pan) but I would have done that deal in a heartbeat. Why can we never get these deals? We always over pay for one year wonders who were never great like a 3rd for Corey Williams and a premium pick (2nd) for a 29 year old Shaun Rogers who had a great season in Detroit but he was never exactly Wilfork, Ngata or Hampton either. He's been injured two of the last three years and he wasn't good this last year as he had been pre-injuries (still an okay pass rusher, but no help with the run and not the ELITE pass rusher he used to be to make up for his run D), but his contract gives him about 12M AAV the next couple years. That said, he's definitely not a BAD buy at the price, especially considering our cap situation. I think it's solid, but I'm not super mad we didn't do it. Only a little mad. And mainly just because that's a 4th round pick probably filling in a hole a bunch of people want to burn a first round pick on (3rd rusher). For our situation though with almost 130 in cap space and a must spend 59 this year and a measly 4th round pick? I'd pay him 20 mil a year for the next 2 years for a 4th round pick. We also would have the perfect makings for him to spark his career as he wouldn't have to be a starter or even in a heavy rotation. He is hands down in the Top 2 if not the best defensive player since 99 (Jamir MIller) but he was still not a stud. Better than Hampton and better than Wilfork's best. And C) NAME THOSE FLAWS THAT TEAMS SUPPOSEDLY EXPOSED? He was a Pro Bowl player for the Browns that got injured.
