I'm so glad I was able to find that audio track. After watching Akira countless times with it, the change was a horrific mistake and I can't watch the redubbed version. I was actually on board with the live action version with the Hughes brothers directing. Akira is a property that they would crush. But once they bailed, so did I. Agreed, the updated dub was total trash. Dubs often get panned, & in many case rightfully so. But the Akira original is universally praised, it's easily one of the best, if not the best. Superb voice talent. I'm anti live-action in this case, because I believe animation is the best platform for carry the adapted original material. Stylistically there are things animation can deliver / provide, that live-action cannot. I just wish here in the West we had a better appreciation for film in the animated format. Never materialized. Yeah, his name has been attached to NS for some time now. Gotta admit, due to its fairly graphic nature it'd be difficult to translate to live-action while staying true to the source material. 10 hours ago, ninjapirate said: With that many pages you could probably make a 26 episode anime that isn't hurting for content. Agreed, an animated series would be better for delivering a more accurate representation of the Akira manga. Much better than a live-action set in "New Manhattan." Akira is a masterpiece as is. Even if Ghost In The Shell didn't have the white-washing controversy, it was another example of a revered property being butchered. I never was a big fan of Ghost to begin with but I'm very protective of Akira. Agreed on the bolded. At least there is some high quality animation here, thankfully. The recent final season of Samurai Jack was extraordinary.
Apparition
Extremely stoked for this - Annihilation Based on Jeff Vandermeer's outstanding Southern Reach trilogy and helmed by probably my favorite active director.

In the much later translation from comics much later to movie much later, the third appearance of Deadpool would make sense for a team up. Besides, they already laid the seeds for him to team with people in his very first outing. Yeah, if anything I think we're going to end up seeing an adversarial threeway between Deadie, Cable, and Domino - or at least I think that was Tim Miller's intention, as I know the studio (FOX and the Donners) have been pushing for Cable's inclusion since DOFP. Whether that's what we get and Black Tom is just a cursory villain or we get the, more likely now, knowing the standard FOX formula, adversarial threeway to start out and then the three partner up to combat Black Tom in the end is a different question. Thinking most likely we see Domino starting out as a mercenary hired by Black Tom who eventually decides to double-cross him (God I hope it's that she double-crosses him rather than he double-crosses her and she becomes the unwitting-reformed-hero). Small Town Values
Hocus Pocus Is Officially Getting Remade—without the Original Cast https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/09/hocus-pocus-remake-sequel-disney-channel-new-cast Quote Well, it’s finally official: Disney is working on a Hocus Pocus TV movie. The bad news for Sanderson purists? The new project will include a new cast and new director. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's only a TV movie. But, it has the potential to either be really good, or straight up trash? Gotta admit, I have a nostalgic affection for this film, so I'm hoping they don't stuff it up. Fingers crossed! If they take a slightly more serious approach than the original, I could see this being one of the few remake / sequels that actually works. Also...Thora Birch should have been in the movie...she should have played a parent or something.
Tetsujin
This could also go into the anime discussion, but JJ Abrams is looking to do a live action adaptation of Your Name https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/28/16378002/j-j-abrams-anime-your-name-live-action-film-paramount 嫌だ。
