I think Carr is closer to Andy Dalton type QB than the top 5 QB people thought he was going to be a few years ago. Raiders could do better but they can also do way worse with another QB.

Derek Carr and Andy Dalton as players are literally nothing alike, though.

You take away like 5 of Carrs INTs and hes having a Pro Bowl year ironicaly. 71% COMP, YPA in the high 8’s, making some great throws.

I think he doesn’t have a full grasp of Grudens complex offense yet. Although Carr still looked not quite himself last year either.

Obv INTs are a huge part of the game and if he doesn’t correct this by the end of the season he could be gone. The sad part is most of his INTs are in the redzone. I believe 6 of the 8.

No, Carr hs proven with money heavily invested in OL and WR, he can have an MVP caliber season. Dalton has had a fantastic line before and a Top 4-5 WR in AJ Green. He’s never come anywhere close to having an MVP year and just doesn’t have that ability Carr has. The two may look similar right now but Dalton has a miles better supporting cast at the moment. Carr WRs are absolutely terrible, with Cooper they are in the 20’s, without Cooper definitely 32. Also has one of the worst T combos in the league.

2016 Carr is fairly similar to 2015 Dalton.

Actually Andy Dalton was having an MVP type season in 2015. And this year he is doing well too

Lol ive been one of Carra biggest critics this year and asking to get out if his contract if his play continues. Funny coming from the biggest homer on the site.

Actually, in 2015 Dalton was having an MVP type of year. He was one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL before he got hurt. His DYAR and DVOA were actually noticeably higher than what Carr did in 2016 via Pro Football Outsiders metrics. Just saying, he's had an elite year before.

Carr can still be very good. He's with his 4th OC in 5 years and has made strides in areas this year that he hasn't consistently before. He's working better in the pocket, going through his progressions more, and starting to use his legs to make out of structure plays.

He definitely isn't in any danger regarding his future here based on his level of play.
His season has been defined by about 5-6 ill-advised throws, but he's at career high completion percentage and YPA within Gruden's offense.

Give him time to iron it out and improve within this system. People are impatient with results. He's a valuable asset you can build around, I can't believe Raiders fans are so down on him. Just being overly emotional.

It's not like we've even fielded an average defense once in the past 5 years either, which so many here are quick to forget.

He's definitely better than last season, but he’s been far too conservative with the football, posting the second-lowest average depth of target and the lowest percentage of throws into tight coverage. He is still playing scared. That 71% accuracy would certainly come down if he tried a more aggressive approach.

Once again.. Gruden never drafts QBs. He hates young QBs. Look at his three main starters in his Head Coaching tenure: Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, and Jeff Garcia.

So he's like the HC in Draft Day? Funny thing is that GM really wanted a pass-rusher named Mack and you guys just shipped one out
