It’s not a bad trade if he turns into an allpro. Clearly they viewed him as such. Reminds me of the CM3 trade. Some will agree some won’t. I see savage as an Earl Thomas type and he had a huge impact on Seattle’s D and what they were able to do. Just my opinion which men’s nothing.

Forgot about how many GB fans didn't like the CM3 trade up when it happened.

In your mind they were comparable.  In Gute's mind, they clearly were not comparable.  I actually agree that the trade up didn't seem necessary to land Savage.  However, the fact that Gute did in fact trade up tells me that (1) Gute thought Savage was the best of the S bunch by a good margin, and (2) he had reasonable doubt that Savage would last until pick #30.

Gute said in a press conference that he had confirmation Savage would not have been there at 30.

It was almost as bad as the Gary pick yesterday. When we moved back in lots were begging for it to be anyone else.

Not directly related to this but I was just thinking that, as a player, it must be super-motivating to know that the team that picked you was willing to move up just to get you. It's not just "they wanted me out of the available players at their pick" but "they actively sought me".

Didn't Ryan Grant go down easy too though? He seems a lot like Grant.

Yes.  Grant would fall down if someone exhaled in his general direction.  I couldn't stand him because of that.  I think he must have thought the line of scrimmage was a physical line that he was required to trip over every time he crossed it.
