It does really seem like Rodgers gets a little tunnel vision when Adams is on the field. I get you don't want to throw picks, but at some point you need to take a few shots.

Rodgers falls apart when he loses confidence in his Oline .. his eyes go to the ground and he fails to hit receivers that are open right in front of him when he's got a rush coming up the middle.  Common sense would say .. the pass rush is getting here quickly .. lets get the ball out fast.  Not with Rodgers .. he just holds the ball longer and longer.  You'd think someone would smack him on the sidelines.  There may be some tunnel vision as well at times, as it seems he only has eyes for Davonte Adams.

Congrats to SF. All those top 5 picks over the last 5 years turned them into a power house. I'm about ready for the NFL to employ the draft Lottery. Teams that tank their way to the top shouldn't be rewarded. Is first time GM John Lynch really a genius?  Or did he benefit from racking up on top 5 talent over his short stint as GM.

Agreed, defense kept this game close while offense gifted the 49ers at least 10 points.

i am worried about JK Scott.  He hasn’t hit a good punt in over a month.

2 years in a row. Late season problems. We can’t have that. Field position was ridiculous all day.  3 and out doesn’t help but the kid will probably find himself with some competition next spring.

Took a look at some of the punting stats....

Scott ranks 9th in total punts w/53. League most: 64
Average per punt (44.9) puts him at 21st. League leading: 49.2
Net yards (41.1) puts him at 19th. League leading: 44.2

I guess he was freaked the SF rush was going to trample him (although he hasnt had a punt blocked all year.....) cause its hard to figure a 37.2 average in the perfect conditions last night.

Last nights punts:

GB 31 to SF 28
GB 13 to SF 49
GB 22 to SF 37
GB 34 to SF 28
GB 29 to SF 39
GB 19 to SF 49

The Chargers blocked a punt when the blocking completely failed.

Just FYI, this is inaccurate to a degree. Arik Armstead was like the 17th pick in the draft. Deforest Buckner was the 7th pick in a draft that was absolutely stacked at the top. There are only 2 top 5 (actually top 3) picks on that defense, and that is Bosa and Thomas, and the latter has been a complete and total bust. Fred Warner was a third round pick. Dre Greenlaw was a fifth round pick. DJ Jones was a late 6th round pick. Ronald Blair (hurt now) was a 5th round pick, and Ford was acquired through a trade. On the back end, Moseley was an undrafted free agent and Spoon was a third round pick.  Ward was a late first round pick six years ago. Tartt was a second round pick, and Sherm was a free agent acquisition.

And it's not like the 49ers intentionally tanked to get Bosa. Jimmy G tore an ACL in game 3 and we were riding it out with CJ Beathard and Nick Mullens last year.

The 49ers have had 2 top 5 picks in the last 15 years, but they just happened to occur in the last 4 years (with one of them being a bust). He's definitely not a genius. He and Shanny have whiffed hard on some picks, but managed to break through by getting steals later on. Thomas / Foster / Pettis are all pretty big busts. CJ beathard was Shanny's handpicked QB, bust. Joe Williams the same thing at running back. They've offset this with Nick Mullens (UDFA), Matt Breida (UDFA), getting Kittle in the 5th round, etc. He's also whiffed on some big money FA signings.

I'd still give Shanny more credit than Lynch, for sure.

Yeah, this is all Lynch and Shanny. They never tanked, their QB's just kept getting hurt up until this year regardless of who was under center. I'm drawing this game up to not having the right personnel on the DL as well as the OL more than I am to coaching. You can't expect to win when your Center is getting beat and you lose your starting RT for the game with a not-ready-for-primetime backup.

It definitely happened...

Interesting. It must be how ESPN assessed blocks versus tipped punts.

Box score indicates Scott punted 5 times that game.
The Play by Play for the game breaks them down as follows - w/o a BLOCK indicated:

4th & 17 at GB 18 - (4:28 - 1st) J.Scott punts 42 yards to LAC 40, Center-H.Bradley. D.King to LAC 41 for 1 yard (W.Redmond; D.Vitale).

4th & 17 at GB 35 - (12:47 - 2nd) J.Scott punts 49 yards to LAC 16, Center-H.Bradley, out of bounds.

4th & 7 at LAC 45 - (4:21 - 2nd) J.Scott punts 37 yards to LAC 8, Center-H.Bradley, fair catch by D.King.

4th & 8 at GB 25 - (13:28 - 3rd) J.Scott punts 52 yards to LAC 23, Center-H.Bradley. D.King to LAC 23 for no gain (W.Redmond).

4th & 16 at GB 19 - (7:23 - 3rd) J.Scott punts 8 yards to GB 27, Center-H.Bradley, out of bounds.

It's probably that this last punt was tipped (not actually blocked) - which is why the cumulative player stats for all punters shows Scott to have zero blocked.

Not according to the ESPN punting stats.

It also doesnt show up in the GB/LAC play by play details.

It's not an official block since it did go past the LOS.

But he had pressure in his face and, honestly, it's amazing it made it forward at all considering got at least a full arm (and maybe two) on it while running right past the blockers.
