Vegas buffets are a different animal.  They are much higher end and often have waits to get it regardless of day or time.

Last one I went to was like 50 per person plus booze.  Worth every penny, dont get me wrong, but just saying it’s orders of magnitude better than Golden Corral and the like.

Vegas is really the only place I’ve been that has buffets like this though, as far as quality of food and abundance of great options (both in food and different buffet restaurant options).  Most every casino has them and many of them are awfully damned good.

The Paris buffet in Las Vegas (can’t remember the name of it) is ridiculous. I don’t remember exactly what we paid when we went but it was worth every penny. If I go to Vegas again that will be at the top of my list for food.

Anonymity+ tracking = ha

Obviously not anonymous to whoever is tracking it between the companies and the government

But the idea behind the apps is you'd get a notification telling you you may have been exposed, not necessarily saying when or where or who it was

There’s a dozen of them like that.

Despite having been a half dozen times im not a “Vegas guy” (I don’t gamble) but Fremont street and the buffets are my “can’t miss” things personally

Yep for sure

The good thing with the tracking apps too is it works for folks who live in border communities who are crossing frequently for a bunch of different reasons and could never be expected to abide by more stringent requirements like border tests or being screened for symptoms if they're going across for the day to visit their uncle or going to the grocery store that happens to be in the other country.  Those are the people most hurt right now by the border closures.  The tracking app could be downloaded and kept on your phone, its a privacy issue but you have a lot more leeway with foreign nationals / immigration issues than you do with your own citizens and I think most people who want to cross the border would be OK with it for the time being if they were assured the information was only used for anonymous contact tracing (I don't have blind faith in either government, but the US and Canada is not Russia and North Korea by any means)

It’s particularly hard on those in the Vancouver to Bellingham area. Also here in Ontario folks on both sides of the border have cottages across the river. Point Roberts Washington depends on Vancouver folks coming across.

I would never agree to a tracking app. It would mean I have to buy a cell phone which I won’t do.

I carried one from the time they were Motorola’s. You know the brick with antenna up until I retired. On my last day I pushed the blackberry across the desk to my boss and have never purchased one.

LOL....I agree we aren’t N Korea or Russia but...........

Super frustrating considering we go through like 1-2 rolls a week with a family of 4.

Im just not sure why hoarding this specific item is a thing.

I get that there would be a shortage if everyone decides they better buy a couple packs when this first started but people went nuts once there was a little shortage

Everyone being home now.  Kids aren't at school and doing stuff after school, so they are home and use the bathroom at home.  If you are working from home now, that's 8-12 hours that you are now home to use the bathroom there, instead of at the office.  Moms who are normally out and about and use the bathroom on the road if they have to are now home too.  Everyone being home instead of using the work or public bathrooms leads to needing more toilet paper.

Also, you have the hoarders, and then you have people who are hoarding it because of the hoarders, and it continues to be a vicious cycle.  I always shopped out of need, and while that might not change after this for food, but you can bet that I am going to keep plenty of toilet paper, butt wipes, Clorox wipes and paper towels on hand when this is all said and done.

And really, you could use other items, but none of them can be flushed down the toilet, and who wants to use a wash cloth and have to wash it?

Also if you aren't a Sams Club member, it's $45 for a membership.  My mother was just able to order a huge pack of TP and paper towels and they will be delivered to her house by April 30th.  Earlier in the day, they were showing out of stock and got some brands in.  Same deal at the clubs, and it's best to get there early before everyone else.
