Davis waited 10 years to get into the HOF. Megatron was 1st ballot???? Not saying Johnson wasnt deserving, but to make him 1st ballot is insanity. These two are not even close to being the same. TD did it on a stacked team with a good staff where he wasn't even the prime focus for defenses. CJ did it for years on a 0-16 team with the most bass ackwards franchise in history and he WAS the offense. RamblinMan99
Of course TJ got snubbed, but we could all see it coming from a country mile. It’s all a damn popularity contest. Aaron Donald is the face of Defense in the NFL and the league (from players to coaches to commentators) have a bad habit of overstating him constantly. He had a great season, but Watt was better in almost every category. Definitely one of the biggest snubs ever in the history of the NFL honors. You don't need a damn stat sheet to show you why Calvin was one of the most gifted talents in NFL history. I remember watching him in his first season and I knew he was going to the Hall. Thankfully voters are no longer demanding guys play 15+ years to be a HOF.

Both were natural talents that broke records at their positions and were wasted by the same team that didn’t know how to utilize them. Terrell Davis was great for the time he was healthy, but that’s what his problem was. He wasn’t a great player for long enough in the NFL. It stings too when you have to end your career marred by injuries rather than calling it quits on your own terms.

They’re a terrible team not even worth watching but they have a knack more than any other college organization to produce players that end up being the best at their positions in the NFL. Marino, Fitzgerald, Derrell Revis, Curtis Martin, Lesean McCoy (for a while there), Tony Dorsett, Bill Fralic, Chris Doleman, etc. Yeah, it’s not just the defensive side of the ball by any means. You have teams like Alabama or LSU where they send almost their whole team into the pros, but most of them would never have a chance of seeing the HoF. Yeah, Pitt has always been that school that just polishes one single player at a time in college to stand over the rest in the NFL. And, I understand that Aaron Donald wanted to donate to Pitt football, but that was completely unnecessary. Pitt’s one of the top 5 wealthiest colleges in the nation. Like they really need it. Brady 10, Rodgers, 11, Peterson 12, Manning 13, Rodgers 14, Newton 15, Ryan 16, Brady 17, Mahomes 18, Jackson 19, Rodgers 20. Every single one each of these guys was the clear favorite going in. The only remotely interesting ones were whether the voters were going to ignore the slow start Manning had in 2012 and snub Peterson, or if the voters were going to similarly ignore Brady 2016 suspension and snub Ryan, or if voters were going to ignore Wentz injury and snub Brady after they held missing time against him the prior year. But really every single one had an absolutely clear favorite going in and even in the closest scenario's the 2nd nearest contender had serious flaws in their argument that everyone knew pretty much all but DQ'd them. 2008 might have been the last time it was a legitimate up in the air debate over who would be MVP and you couldn't give an answer with certainty once the season ended. And since the voters don’t watch every snap of every player things like this aren’t really picked up on.

What would be the harm in getting Matthews in this year in waiting until next year for Calvin or Lynch since both have a decade+ left of eligibility? Same thing I felt with Pat Bowlen. The NFL could (and should) have put him in the HOF knowing he was going to pass away soon but instead they chose to put in Jerry Jones. Then they elected Bowlen in AFTER he died. Like come tf on you idiots there is a way to get everyone in while not wasting candidates time. That’s not how it works, though. If every year, there are a list of people eligible that are more hall of fame worthy, then that person will continue to sit out. Calvin got in because he has the resume and film to be in the argument as best WR of all time. Clay is barely considered a top 50 LB. Your whole “feel good” excuse doesn’t work for me.
