Another unsung hero that no one‘s going to talk about is Philon.
 

I also like this new under control Jonathan Abram(you know the one with a new DB coach that actually has a track record of developing young talent)

I was watching him most defensive snaps if he was in the frame. He played really well. He clogged up the hook zone area pretty well and made some tone-setting hits. Late in the game, he played deep really well.

Did you happen to notice that on third down he would play a lot of nose tackle also

Philon was a wild card for me.  Did not feel comfortable relying on him earlier in the offseason but he looked good through the preseason and great tonight.  Hope he continues to play well.

I liked how Abram looked but he still ducks his head to much.  Also thought he was going to get a flag late in the game were he came in for a kill shot using his head.  Thankfully the refs missed among a lot of other things tonight.

Abram played under control for the most part but I know exactly what play you’re talking about. He also got shook early in the game lol

to be fair to Andre James... he would normally start alongside Richie and Good and instead played most of the game with Simpson and Eluemunor

getting the starters back (or at least Richie) would probably make him look a bit better... but he still has to play much better when taking on defensive linemen. for what its worth, he looks plenty athletic when he released to the second level and takes on a linebacker (look at Jacobs' second touchdown run)... he just seemingly cannot take on any defensive linemen 1 on 1.

while baltimore's defensive interior is quite elite between Brandon Williams and Calais Campbell, the best team in our division has this dude named Chris Jones who is the best defensive tackle not named Aaron Donald
