While we could lose and still go into the playoffs, so not technically a must win, this is a game the Raiders need to come out hungry and win.
A backup QB, against a team we are (should be?) favoured in.
If we lose this game, but sneak out a win against say KC, then yes it is fine. . . but just take care of business and beat the teams we should.

I think it’s more telling losing a game like this. Playoff teams win games they should win. It’d be a let down, and have a same ol Raiders feeling if we didn’t take care of business after two solid weeks to start the season. Start 3-0 and give yourself a jumpstart to the playoffs.

We always lose to the dolphins

PERFECT...It fits the new pattern  😃

Ravens always win on Monday night games with Jackson.

Raider always lose early games on East Coast and Steelers always beat us as the home team.

So YEAH!!! To 'We always lose to the Dolphins'    😃

I think we can beat the Fins even if we start Peterman. That way Carr comes in if needed in 4th quarter so his 1st quarter jitters will be gone already.

As Hannibal says...'I love it when a plan comes together.'

The games that matter are in Nov/Dec. Raiders are the embodiment of that the last 2 seasons.

They definitely seem more important, as the last few spots come typically come down to one game.
But ultimately its like saying a missed FG in the first quarter doesnt matter, the fgs that matter are at the end of the game.
When youre in close FG range, you need to make it.
A game against Miami, is like a 30 yard fg.  A miss may not derail our season, but there is no reason to not make it.

Also, If you win big in Sept/Oct, you can sometimes rest players in Dec as youve already cemented your position. And your last game is meaningless.
Really the only meaningless game for a team, potentially comes at the end of the season. Not at the start.

I understand where you're all coming from. My point is, if the team is going to get hot, I'd prefer they get hot on the back stretch of the season.

We've saw this team go 6-2 and crumble with issues like lack of depth and injuries late in the season against a soft schedule.
