Washington Football Team Reportedly Has New Name Narrowed Down To These Four Options (PICS)

Trayton Miller on Twitter: "Excited to unveil my concepts for the #RedskinsRebrand contest at @sportslogosnet. Combining circular design of the old logo, the stars and stripes from the DC flag, and the

Cardboard Hogs by Rob Hopkins on Dribbble

Cant for the life of me understand why they wouldn't go with Hogs or Redhogs or Wild Boars or something of that ilk.

It's clearly the best combo of team history/cool logo potential/uniqueness compared to other teams.

Actually really like this one. Logo is dope.

I'll just be glad when it isn't the Washington Football Team anymore.  Every time I see it shortened to "WFT" I somehow see the initials WTF first, instead.

So you're saying they should change the name to the Washington TerraFarmers?

Why do you think it is cringy?   Just curious...

Specifically Armada?  Because it's more kitsch than it is based in anything of relevance to the region.  At best, they'd be trying to tie into the Maryland region with Annapolis and the US Naval Academy being there, but the US has never had an armada and the Navy never used the term armada, except to name a WW2 minesweeping ship the USS Armada.

Legitimately, though more people would connect it with being "the name from the movie" calling them the Washington Sentinels, like the team from the movie the Replacements, would make more sense in that it would pay tribute to the 3rd Army Regiment, also known as The Old Guard and the escort to the president, which was originally based out of Fort Myer in Virginia as one of their best known divisions are the sentinels of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

It's the only way I refer to them since the name change, WTF. Fits the organization from the top down perfectly IMO.

Weird way to spell troubling.

First thing that comes to mind when I hear Armada is the Spanish Armada. Why go from Redskins to a name that is also linked with a troubling colonial past?

You're projecting meaning into something that's a general term from a specific instance. Armadas are something that's been around far more times than just the Spanish one.

Maybe they should spend less money on rebranding every couple years and fix that soup kitchen of a stadium… yeesh

It's Snyders brilliant way of collecting free money from fans dumb enough to buy WTF merchandise.  Also keeps the Franchise in the spotlight rather then an afterthought.

Would anyone outside of their fan base think twice about WTF in February without this "new name change"?
