In today's NBA I don't think he's worth that cap space. Better to build around perimeter players and unicorn bigs and try to find a Dedmon type on the cheap as a rim protector/ runner. But for certain teams maybe.

this is how i'm constructing teams as well now.

use your money on good wings/shooters/versatile guys and just sign rebounders/defensive guys at center who can run the floor. when one needs to be paid, swap another similar player in.

It really would be best.  They shouldn't feel any loyalty to Thomas since he's a free agent and they probably won't even re-sign him anyways, so making that change would be good for them.

it would probably help marginally, but the biggest problem is that this team is old. if we assume james hasnt turned into a near elite shooter like he was earlier in the year and hes really only a servicable shooter, the cavs are in trouble. Hes almost been a net negative player over the last couple weeks with his atrocious defense and his shot being off, we may be seeing the decline of lebron from super human status to mere an elite, top 5-6 player. I dont think the cavs make it past  either toronto or boston if thats the case.

Sixers Get

Kawhi Leonard

Spurs Get

Robert Covington

Markelle Fultz

Kings 1st round pick in 2019 (top 3 protected otherwise it's the Sixers pick in 2019 and 2020)

Simmons

Reddick

Leonard

Saric

Embiid

Add to bench via free agency.

Spurs get a talented prospect in Fultz who may be hurt but is still super talented, Roco is a very good defender and one of the better 3 and D guys and potentially a top 5 pick or two first rounders.

- Mavs get a young player with upside.

- Cleveland gets defensive help and sheds a bad contract.

- Kings get expiring contacts, plus an "all-star" guard (I'd imagine Cleveland's 1st round would be included as well).

I like this better then most.

1. Horrible compensation for Kawhi

2. You can't trade the Kings pick as it's owed to the Celtics until we get the Lakers pick.

Enough with the Kemba trades.

Besides, Lamb is the one you should be after.

Couldn't help myself. Cav's need help, Pistons need help, Hornets need talent, and this trade doesn't screw up the George Hill deal imo.

Pistons receive PG Kemba Walker, C/F Cody Zeller.

Cavaliers receive C Dwight Howard, PF Marvin Williams, SG Avery Bradley, and the Pistons 2nd round pick.

Hornets receive PF/C Kevin Love, C Tristan Thompason, and PG Reggie Jackson.

Trade machine hates it but I think it's ok for Cleveland, they get some interior defense and perimeter defense in Howard/Bradley, also good outside shooting to space the floor with Bradley/Williams outside of the shooters they have already. Also dump a terrible contract without giving up any picks. Could get better picks though if they dealt Kevin Love straight up. This move allows them to dump TONS of money in the next two years though.

Pistons get a healthy PG to make a playoff push and save Stan Van Gundy's job. Absorb a bad contract and give up a late pick.

Hornets get the All-Star they want when it's basically known they have to deal Kemba Walker or watch him walk for nothing. Also keep a starting PG to pair with Kevin Love who they can build around and exchange a year less in bad contracts with Thompson/Zeller, while also saving 4 million up front.

Cavaliers receive PG George Hill.

Kings receive SG Iman Shumpert, SG/SF Kyle Korver, conditional future 2nd round pick.

Good PG who can guard both guard positions rather effectively. HE may or may not start but could play with basically anyone. Move two guys that are bit of one trick pony's/misfits and get a guy who can do a lot of things

Quote

George Hill/ Isaiah Thomas/ Jose Calderon

Avery Bradley/ Dwayne Wade/ JR Smith/ Derrick Rose

Lebron James/ Jeff Green/ Cedi Osman

Marvin Williams/ Jae Crowder

Dwight Howard/ Channing Frye/ Ante Zizic

Not sure this is a better roster for Cleveland really but it's better defensively, and can allow them to bring in different players this offseason to surround Lebron with, of if he leaves, to completely rebuild with.

Quote

PG: Reggie Jackson/ Michael Carter Williams/ Julyan Stone

SG: Jeremy Lamb/ Malik Monk/ Treveon Graham

SF: Nicholas Batum/ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/ Dwayne Bacon

PF: Kevin Love/ Frank Kaminsky

C: Tristan Thompson/ Johnny O’Bryant III

Charlotte can basically play the young fellas and go idle for the year, also have two open roster spots, to sign who ever they want to develop or get a look at, after teams start waiving players when more trades are made.

Quote

PG: Kemba Walker/ Ish Smith/ Dwight Buycks

SG: Luke Kennard/ Langston Galloway

SF: Reggie Bullock/ Stanley Johnson

PF: Tobias Harris/ Anthony Tolliver/ Henry Ellenson/ Jon Leuer

C: Andre Drummond/ Cody Zeller/ Eric Moreland/ Boban Marjanovic

Idk how much better Pistons really are without Braldey and adding Walker but it's a way to shake things up for Stan Van Gundy in an attempt to save his job.

Yeah it would take Simmons, a 1st, and a filler. Kawhi is only 26 years old and is a mega star - a franchise player.

He and Embiid would be unreal...
