Luckily for Kirk, Davis won’t be asked to play tackle, which is where he struggled.

The Vikings are looking at him at RG, or as a swing backup guard. And Davis’s play at guard has been ok. Yes, hopefully, one of the young players beats him out for the job, but if Davis plays guard in Minnesota at the level he did in Miami he’s an upgrade from what they’ve had the past couple of seasons.

He struggled everywhere. At one point he played Guard at a below average level, but last season he was basically a turnstile regardless of where he lined up.

Hopefully he's just a camp body to let some of your younger DL gain some confidence.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet it's not here.

Oops, he now deleted the tweet.  It was that Peterson was announcing where he was going in FA tonight.   I guess that wasn't supposed to be announced.  LOL!

Peterson said multiple other teams, including the Bills, Bears, Colts and Commanders, showed interest in him in free agency. But he ultimately decided to stay in Minnesota, where he signed last year after spending a decade with the Cardinals.

The 31-year-old Peterson said he expects the Vikings to take a cornerback high in this year’s draft, and that he sees himself as a veteran mentor in the secondary.

that lessens the need for CB, though they still have a below average group for sure.

Wouldn’t say that. It’s still a below average group with Peterson, as you said. It doesn’t really change the draft strategy, they still need a top flight CB talent to play opposite of Peterson. Wouldn’t want to lean on Dantzler, Sullivan or Hairston as full time starters.

There isn’t really another pressing need on the defense, maybe a big NT but don’t need to go that route at 12. Otherwise, edge and Lb are mostly set (though could see an argument for an edge early given Hunters injury history).

CB and IOL look to be the more concerning spots going into the draft.

Derek Stingley with Pat Pete would be an LSU dream.

Awesome they were able to resign him, real question is how much a year does he get and is it only one year again?  I assume it is not in the $9 mil to $10 mil a year category.

Also awesome he is willing to be a mentor to the young guy which they will be getting in the draft.

"The 31-year-old started in all 13 of his games played for Minnesota during the regular season and allowed opposing receivers to catch just 57.8% of their targets and had quarterbacks post a passer rating of 89 throughout the year, according to Pro Football Focus. Peterson also had three pass breakups and one interception. That production helped the Vikings secondary land just outside the top 10 in the league as the unit was 13th-best against the pass in 2021, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metric. "

I have no clue how that pass defense is 13th best last year, they were 28th in the NFL in passing yards allowed total and 28th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.  No clue how this "DVOA" metric puts that as 13th in the NFL in best against the pass.

For sure helps no question and in the draft Andrew Booth, Cam Taylor-Britt or Tariq Woolen could all maybe be around in the 2nd round for the Vikings potentially.   Zyon McCollum and Kyle Gordon could be in play as well so they will have options and still be able to use that 1st round pick on maybe Jordan Davis or Penning on the OL or Linderbaum at center but doubt that happens unless they trade down.

LSU Pro day is April 6th.  Really need to see Stingley Jr workout, see if he is healthy.  Because unless he runs like a 4.3 or 4.4 40 with a vertical for 36"-40" and solid broad jump and 3-cone, I would really not be all that interested in him.  He would have to show some outstanding numbers athletically with the sub par play and injuries he has had the past two years in a row.
