goldfishwars
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers This Class In One Sentence: A functionally solid and slightly boring draft, which was probably exactly what was needed Pre-Draft Needs DT, G, CB, EDGE, QB Selections Round 2. 33. Logan Hall | DL | Houston Round 2. 57. Luke Goedeke | OT | Central Michigan Round 3. 91. Rachaad White | RB | Arizona State Round 4. 106. Cade Otton | TE | Washington Round 4. 133. Jake Camarda | P | Georgia Round 5. 157. Zyon McCollum | CB | Sam Houston State Round 6. 218. Ko Kieft | TE | Minnesota Round 7. 248. Andre Anthony | DE | LSU What I liked: I liked the Logan Hall pick, it’s a good landing spot for a high upside physical talent who could do with a bit of seasoning. The Buccs front utilizes five-techs and he comes in a perfect physical package to hone is athletic potential. Luke Goedeke has some inside/outside value on the offensive line, my guess is the Buccs will want to see him compete at guard. He was an exceptional run-blocker at Central Michigan. Cade Otton is decent in the 4th as a second or third tight end to rotate in, someone who is kind of good at a few things. The Buccs have had some success coaching up uber-athletic corners and Zyon McCollum has more of that than technical chops right now, as a 5th round pick-up - why not. Ko Kieft is a decent blocking tight end, and that only - a bit like Lee Smith and he was in the league for years. What I didn’t like: Not a huge Rachaad White guy, even if his selection wasn't egregious. Licht has taken several stabs to nail the running back spot through the draft and whilst he's a good runner in space and as a receiver, he won't see a snap behind Tom Brady unless his pass-blocking gets better. Also, is Kyle Trask still the succession plan in Tampa? That guy sucks. If this is Brady's last season, then a falling Malik Willis, or any of those dudes (Ridder, Corral, Howell) might have been worth a shot. Otherwise, there’s little to get upset about or overly-excited all round here. A punter in the 4th is usually a sign you're extremely happy with the roster as it is.
Daniel
Man, these middle drafts are pretty hard to distinguish from one another. All pretty even. Tampa here seems pretty reasonable.

Your insecurity on the topic is documented, reasonable examples have been provided proving your stance is wrong, and you’re now choosing to be willfully ignorant on very basic comparisons that even the unengaged can quickly understand. Do you, I guess. Don’t be up in arms when people call you on it. I mean, if Strange and Thornton bust then it's whayever. We've overcome bad drafts. But if Strange and Onwenu become the best guard tandem and Thornton becomes the hokerun threat we've been looking for, I don't want anyone going "BB is a genius". Not even saying BB is the greatest drafter in the world, just he's not bottom tier bad like everyone thinks.

Dont balance the scales with your Cowboys rankings. If you draw a diameter through 32 teams, that is like you are Jason Garrett 8-8'ing us again. My poor heart cant take it. goldfishwars
16. Arizona Cardinals This Class In One Sentence: I have no idea if big Steve Keim is good at his job, but he always does enough to keep it Pre-Draft Needs EDGE, CB, OT, DT, WR Selections Round 2. 55. Trey McBride | TE | Colorado State Round 3. 87. Cameron Thomas | DE | San Diego State Round 3. 100. Myjai Sanders | DE | Cincinnati Round 6. 201. Keaontay Ingram | RB | USC Round 6. 215. Lecitus Smith | OG | Virginia Tech Round 7. 244. Christian Matthew | CB | Valdosta State Round 7. 256. Jesse Luketa | LB | Penn State Round 7. 257. Marquis Hayes | OG | Oklahoma What I liked: The Cardinals had a wild 2021, contenders to middle of the pack in no time at all. That was a worrying collapse. I don’t know if it’s Keim or Kingsbury with the lithe receiver fetish, but the first round spent on Marquise Brown made to placate their moody QB (what is up with that guy?), might work out well if he can stay healthy. Brown is a talent, and pairing him with his old college teammate makes sense. Trey McBride was my favorite Tight End in the class, good in both facets of the game and was ‘the guy’ on the Colorado State offense. He’s the sort of all-round talent they haven’t had at that position for some time. With no pass-rush outside of the corpse of JJ Watt, I like that they came away with second-tier pass-rushers I liked in Cameron Thomas and Myjai Sanders. Thomas has more positional versatility, and is refined in his rush plans. I had a borderline solid second round grade on him, so to land him at 87 is sweet. Sanders had plenty of hype around last year’s draft after a big year, but has questions about his playing weight and an underwhelming combine after making Bruce Feldman’s Freak List. But he’s relentless and quick off the edge on tape - even if that might translate into a rush specialist in the NFL. I do like the two guards taken late. Lecitus Smith might never be anything special, but he’s smooth and strong – I liked him. Marquis Hayes is a little less subtle, a huge butt-kicker who deserved to be drafted higher. This was the year to take late swings on a deep offensive line class, and I’d bet good money at least one of them finds a decent role on this team. What I didn’t like: Whilst there is an upside to the Marquise Brown selection, he’s not the superstar AJ Brown is. He’s still 5’9 and 180 pounds and yet to light the league on fire. He’s been a malcontent too, reportedly asking for a trade as early as his second season in Baltimore. I get that the Kingsbury has a fetish for straight-line underweight receivers who don’t offer any YAC, but that’s still a steep price to pay - even if your current go-to guy has been suspended for six games. The starting boundary corners for the Cards are currently Marco Wilson and Jeff Gladney. Barring a trade, that’s probably not going to change with only Christian Matthew’s addition in the 7th round.

It’s gonna be hard to overcome bad drafts when the main guy who overcame said bad drafts is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. (Unless you think Mac Jones is as good as Tom Brady - spoiler alert, he’s not). 49 minutes ago, biggie. said: Not even saying BB is the greatest drafter in the world, just he's not bottom tier bad like everyone thinks. I’m sure there were worse - Bill O’Brien, Matt Millen immediately come to mind. You know what those worse GMs have in common? They all got fired. Bill Belicheck isn’t getting fired, even if he’s bottom tier as a drafter - because a he’s a top tier coach. There’s nothing wrong with calling out a flaw. That’s Belicheck’s flaw, drafting.

BucsDraftGeek47
Yall are killing me with these shape jokes 🤣 I knew whwn i mentioned i was happy i hadn't seen the Bucs ranked yet that they would be coming soon lol Dang I'm sad that the main thing @goldfishwars didn't like was Rachaad White , honestly he's the guy I'm most excited about. I think White wins the 3rd down back roll and has a bigger year than ppl expect. True Licht cant draft running backs to save his life up til now but I think White changes that narrative. Plus Lenny misses time occasionally.
