Whose team's rookies are starting in Week 1?

@#36) D-Line-Johnny Newton-Ill=I imagine Dan Quinn will want him in packages where he, DeRon Payne, & Johnathan Allen are on the field at the same time. How many snaps he gets, I don't know. But his blue chip 1st Rd talent, will be difficult for coaches not to play him. Unless, they plan on playing him at DE. Which would be immediate starter.

Johnny Newton... blue chip?

I think if any Niner fan is confident in their predictions, then they are kidding themselves lol.

Because if Jennings stays on the team, then I can't confidently say that Pearaall will be the slot WR.

Green has to beat out Luter and Yiadrom and Ya-Sin. No guarantee.

Puni was one of my favorites but Feliciano played well last season and the team really likes him. Tough.

Mustapha over Brown and Hufanga? I don't see it unless Hufanga is not healthy to start the season.

Guerendo? Lol.

Cowing? Similar situation to Pearsall but he looks to be a 2025 pick with our current WR situation.

Injuries happen but as of right now, I can't say for sure any of these picks will be starters.

Pearsall/Green/Puni/Mustapha have a shot though.

Worthy is the starting PR/KR, with an outside chance to start at WR in the slot or as a motion man

Kingsley could become the starter at LT, although he’s likely more of a developmental swing tackle to start depending on if they bring back Donny. Definitely in competition with Wanya Morris

For the Steelers:

Troy Fautanu - I expect he'll start at LT or RT. The question will be whether they want to keep Broderick Jones at RT or flip him back to the left. He's too athletic and too advanced technically to sit, whereas Broderick last year started the year as a backup since he was a lot more raw.

Zach Frazier - Probably even more of a lock than Fautanu to start. He should be the opening day center.

Roman Wilson - I'd say 75% or better he's our starting slot.

Potential starter: UDFA Beanie Bishop at starting slot CB. Khan was raving about him as the big pull they got from their UDFA class. Although there's word they may be bringing back Cam Sutton.

I expect the rest to be backups. Payton Wilson will be on teams and be behind Queen and Elandon Roberts along with Cole Holcomb. Mason McCormick should be their top IOL backup at the two guard spots and center. Logan Lee and Watts are both depth.

Bears:

Caleb - nothing needed to be said here.

Rome - Will be WR3, but will see tons of play time as a rookie.

Kiran Amegadjie - Would be shocked if he starts without someone ahead of him being injured

Tory Taylor - Definite starter at P.

Austin Booker - Outside shot at significant play time, right now there is no real talent opposite of Montez Sweat.  That said, he's very likely to be limited to a situational pass rusher until he becomes a bit more well rounded

I wonder if Amegadjie ends up starting over Davis by midseason if he has a poor start again. Granted Davis missed a lot of time for personal reasons last year but even later he was erratic for being a vet imo.

Drake Maye QB - Toss Up: The team has said and done all the right things as far as not forcing Maye into the lineup and understanding that he needs to be developed. Whether you’re of the belief that Maye needs to sit for an entire season or he needs to learn on the fly in NFL games, we all agree he has to clean up his game to a degree. That said, I think the team’s letting this be a legitimate QB competition, and that they’re happy having Jacoby be the guy at Week 1 if that’s what Maye needs. They’re also willing to let Maye outright win the job if he shows it, although it’s a little unclear if he’ll show what he needs to in order to do so.

Ja’Lynn Polk WR - Decent Odds: The Patriots kind of find themselves in a logjam of “meh”. They recently re-signed Kendrick Bourne, who can moonlight at any of the WR positions you want to put him at. they signed KJ Osborn, who they seemed really excited about bringing in. Pop Douglas, last year’s rookie, flashed some potential last year as the team’s slot WR. JuJu is, for now, still on the team and can also play Y or Z. So where does Polk fit? Probably as the ideally as the Z (he could be an X too) which is where most of the Pats’ vets rest their laurels too. He’ll have to be them out, but I don’t think that that’s going to be tough to do. I’m not sure he’s a Week 1 WR1/WR2, but I think he’ll be in the mix by the start of the season.

Caedan Wallace T - Coin Toss: Upside? Pretty solid athlete, fine size, tons of experience starting games in college. Downside? All those games were at RT. NE is set at RT with Onwenu manning the station, so Wallace will be in a camp battle with other former RT, Chuks Okorafor. Despite seeing virtually nothing of either guy at LT, the team thinks both are athletic enough to make the switch, and may the best man win. Personally, I’ve been hoping the team brings in another LT like Charles Leno, but if they sit tight, then the rookie’s just going to have to beat out Okorafor for the starting LT job.

Layden Robinson G - Unlikely: Robinson’s been a bit of an inconsistent player at the collegiate level, and while NE can use an upgrade at either guard spot, I think they’ll sit tight and run with Cole Strange and Sidy Sow to start the season.

Javon Baker WR - Unlikely: Love me some Javon Baker, but I think it’ll be tough for him to beat out Bourne/Osborn/Polk for a Week 1 start. That said, he’ll probably walk in as the best downfield player on the team, so it’s possible they get his speed out there on the field. He’ll be a factor during the season, I imagine.

Marcellas Dial CB - Zero: No chance he starts the season without a massive rash of injuries and an insane camp.

Joe Milton QB - Zero: No chance he is the Week 1 starter…even with injuries.

Jaheim Bell TE - Zero: While I think there’s an outside shot he may see a couple snaps on offense early in the season, being the outright starter at TE isn’t realistically possible without injuries to both Henry and Hooper.

Won't know until the James Bradberry situation is resolved one way or another but I'll assume he's not a Eagle.

CB Quinyon Mitchell - Yes Opposite Slay

S Cooper DeJean  - Yes Opposite Blankenship

Everyone else is in a supportive , backup role.

Ainias or Shipley could be KR?

Cooper is starting over CGJ? We definitely over-paid for CGJ in that case.

Ainias could end up slot WR.

I'm going to assume CGJ is used in the Slot majority of the time or as a Chess Piece ala how Gannon used him in 2022.

If you want to say CGJ is the Starting Safety opposite Blankenship that's fine.

Very good chance DeJean is the starting SCB in a few weeks then over Maddox who can't stay healthy. Interchangeable chess pieces are highlighted.

.......... CGJ - Blankenship..........

Mitchell - Maddox - DeJean - Slay

Raiders:

  1. Brock Bowers - TE1 / Slot / Hback / Fullback
  2. Jackson Powers-Johnson - RG
  3. Tommy Eichenberg - SLB
  4. Dylan Laube - KR/PR. I hope he beats out Abdullah for that RB3/pass-catching role too

I thought the Eagles were the only team to be pioneers in today's NFL. I totally forgot about Laube.

Way to break barriers, Raiders!✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

None for the Browns I would guess. Hall is the only one with a chance, but I imagine he'll just be a backup who gets lots of reps depending on how he looks in TC.
