Is Philip Rivers a HOF’er

  1. 1. Will he make the HOF

If he wins an MVP or a Super Bowl, yes.

Otherwise I'd have no say no just because of his performance as a whole compared to his contemporaries. He was never one of the Elite guys even though be's been very good for a long time.

I think he is in the Hall Of Very Good category. Has never won a super bowl, never won an MVP, never thrown for 5,000+ yards, never eclipsed 35 touchdown passes in a season, hasn't been all that great in his playoff chances. He has really just been a consistently good QB throughout his career, but never has really been considered a top 3 QB and has largely been a fringe top 5 type guy. His numbers will likely be better than many HOF QB's from the past, but I think it is largely a product of rule changes in comparison to other HOF QB's from prior decades

I don't know that you can go by lists like that. Over half of each list are current players or played most of their career at the same time as Rivers. Passing has gotten easier as easier and you can really only compare to people of the same generation of players. I don't know whether he'll make it or not, but if he does, it won't (or at least shouldn't) be because of bulk stats. Also, to include Eli as being on the way to the HoF is deceptive because I don't think he's definitive either.

To be fair, I would have Rivers in before Eli, but Rivers would be a demarcation line to me one way or another.
