Honestly I kinda enjoy the forum bidding process

Of all people, I'm shocked you're saying that given the time we usually spend to check the last remaining bids and such and the work need to update the roster sheets

Oh don't get me wrong.  Submitting it all is a pain in the *** into the sheet.  But the open style of the forum bidding I enjoy more then entering a number on a sheet    feel like its easier to tell if someone has outbid you also because you get notified of it by quote.

Either way is fine with me tbh.  Just personal preference

@TedLavie I don't care either way. My only issue is that I can't access anything Google related at work.

So I will be at a disadvantage trying to outbid someone potentially.

Also not being notified you've been outbid will lead to people losing out on guys IMO as they won't pay attention.

I'm only going for a few depth guys regardless.

I'm fine with predetermined amounts. I would say if we go for the Google option to extend the time to 48 hours this year and see how it goes.

So a bit of Shark Tank news

@ny92mike has built a spreadsheet to basically automate all the tracking of the Shark Tank. You would submit your bid on a google form with a 4 digit code that only you and I would know, and the sheet tracks who's leading on every player, the number of bids you made and the ones you're not leading on, the bids that have expired etc.

It's pretty great for everyone to keep track of Shark Tank action, and for us spreadsheet people, it's a lot of energy saved.

However there's a slight hiccup: we cannot find a way to have everyone enter manual bids while keeping the controls (minimum bid reached, 24h not passed, amount of the bid need to be 25$ above last valid bid or $50 is bid above $1000 etc). The only way for this to work is to have a set of amounts pre-defined. Those would be 450, 475, 500, 525 and so on until 1000. Then 1050, 1100, 1150 and so on until 2450, then 2550, 2650 ... You get the idea. Basically it prevents anyone from bidding random amounts like $1001.

We looked at it in depth with Mike but can't make it work in some other way.

So I'm asking for an urgent league vote on the matter if @SirA1 doesn't mind.

@Whicker @wwhickok @PR @Jlash @pheltzbahr @bcb1213 @Ragnarok @WFLukic @PR @SwoleXmad @Hockey5djh @BringinDaPain / @rackcs @MD4L @RuskieTitan

Would you be ok to be allowed to bid only from a certain set of amounts (you can find the list in the form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdOJqvMyFJndSSBtgcfDqS6RhEVhACvtN3NiRgp6ihB_V6fYA/viewform ) to get that sheet?

The sheet would look like this. Don't mind the current bids, we did some testing and I have some cleaning to do before the start, but that should give you an idea of how it would work: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nmzdfN41nPAhRYH-VbkTgjnvG7qfSG2vJM5uZ8z3OB8/edit?usp=sharing

I personally think it's a very small change of rules for a big improvement in our way of doing Shark Tank. But it has to be league decision

Cheers

I know how much time and effort Mike puts into these spreadsheets. I am absolutely fine with predefined amounts.

Any thoughts on a combined method of bidding? aka you can do it in the forum but you have to follow it up by putting it in the sheet or something?

I know its an extra step but the concerns about notifications and access while at work are legitimate.

Personally I dont mind either way. I do echo concerns that Google docs get blocked at work and doing it on the phone is a pain, but having 24 hours should allow folks time at home.

Having specific increments isn't ideal but it's not devastating. If it helps save time and effort, I'm fine with it.

Is there a way to manually enter a bid?  If so the winning gm can just enter the bid in once they've won.  Saves us sheet folks from putting it all in while keeping the open forum notification system in tact

It doesn't work like that, you've still got to enter this information into the main player database, this does make it much easier because its all organized.  This workbook and form are just to make it easier for you guys to track available players, salary cap, players with bids, the time remaining on those bids, the current high bid and the team being awarded players after the time has expired.  All of this is tracked in one location automatically, the only thing required of the owners is to put the bids into the form.  I understand the concern of not being "quoted" or notified when your bid is upped by another team and not being able to access docs at work does suck.  You guys do manage it better than FFMD did back in the day.  Just seems to me that before you make a bid you've got to start on page one and review each page each time you go to make a bid to verify a bid hasn't already been placed.  I'm lost every time I look at these in forum shark tanks.  Looking in on workbook once or even twice a day to see where you stand seems like a lot less work even if sacrificing the notification.  The 24 hr clock gives you enough time to increase your bid.

Just my 2 cents

Nothing I think? Shark tank on the 26th. Mike still thinks trading Mahomes for a single pass rusher to win a game or two more in the immediate was the right call, Frogs has been interning for NFL teams. Rags is still doing the lawyer stuff, Ted is on 'holiday' for the 74th day this year,  Xmad still thinks Telvin Smith is retired, SirA is still running the show, BDP has been a no show and likely is getting replaced by our old buddy @rackcs

So nothing, really.

BDP, has said that he would be here before the season starts and he is... Piss off Jlash.. No offense @rackcs but the Carolina Intimidators are not for the taking my friend..
