So, Adam Schefter broke the news to LaF that he got the job. xD WTF did Murphy do? Call and tell the others they didn't get it, then take a nap before calling LaF?! No way Schefter should have been able to get all these details first, and get to LaF before we did. Embarrassing.

Typically, you call the candidate you want to offer the job to first.  That way, if he says "no", then you go to your next favorite, and so forth.  If you've already told your "also-rans" that they didn't get the job, then it would be pretty embarrassing calling them back and offering them the job anyways.  Sheesh.

another possibility is that the Packers called LaF first, gave him the job, and told him to keep in to himself until they did the formal press release.  I don't doubt Schefter had this call with LaF, but am very skeptical that the front office would let it play out as it is described by Schefter.  i need to be convinced more before i scoff at our front office over this.

Definitely possible. Hopefully that's how it went.

Either way, is it really a big deal? How many players have found out they were cut or traded via social media? It's not like Schefter's source is Murphy. It was probably someone who wasn't supposed to say anything at that time that tipped him off. We don't know the protocol, but this happens across all sports and leagues now, hell the entire NBA Draft last year was ruined due to insiders. There was a physically agreed to trade voided because a pick was tipped. They have their sources and unlike the team they don't care if they spill the beans before the team is ready.

Sometimes, Schefter has the same agent/agency as one of the players/coaches so he gets his info there.
Other times he pays off a hospital employee to get pics of JPP's mangled hand in violation of privacy laws
Money talks; and shortly after the money talks.... Schefter breaks the next story

Yep this. LaFleur described in vivid detail how he found out. And it wasn't Schefter.
