Thought he'd be a stud. Whoops

We did too in Pittsburgh.  He seemed to be a solid character guy and was very physical as a ST Gunner.  However, there is something about WR's who cannot run the entire route tree and catch the ball.  He is a similar physical talent and compares in athleticism and skills to DK Metcalf.  With size, strength, and speed, he wows you.  With results, he leaves you scratching your head and cussing. :DO.o

He had a really strong preseason last year for Houston, but never did anything else. The Texans opted to go with QB Joe Webb as the #4 WR and Coates was never heard from again - even after Will Fuller, Keke Coutee and Demaryius Thomas were out.

That's how bad Sammie Coates is.

It's weird.  He started off really strong for the Steelers a few years ago and looked to be every bit the big play threat Martavis Bryant was.  Then, he broke his hand (or fingers...cant remember) catching a pass from Ben....and it seems like his hand or his psyche never recovered from that.  Even after we traded him, I thought he could at least make a decent 4 or 5 and occasional big play threat...and he cant even beat out training camp talent now.
