The Giants are 2-6, and Williams is a free agent in the offseason so I really don't get this.  Maybe they think they can win the division at 9-7 or they think they can extend him once they get him in the building?

From what I've heard, the Giants are planning on locking him up, which I think is a great idea. His stock has never been lower. We are buying low and hoping we get a great deal.

Giants need all the defensive talent they can get their hands on, and you've got to appreciate building inside out by solidifying the lines. I just wish we could make a similar deal for an OT. Remmers and Solder are average at best.

The rumors I've heard right along with this trade is that the Giants plan to lock him up. If they don't, I agree, the trade seems strange. At best, you'd be trading a 2020 3rd for a 2021 3rd and 8 games of Leonard Williams on a 2-6 team. Hopefully they do lock him up long term while his value is the lowest it has been.
