Would he also break rookie records for attempts? Bulk stats can be misleading when talking about best.

I think it'd be hard to break Andrew Luck's record for attempts, but here's my attempt to calculate this...

      Passing Rushing
Rk Player From To AV G QBrec Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD Rate Lng Int Sk Yds Y/A AY/A NY/A ANY/A Att Yds TD Y/A Lng
1 Justin Herbert 2020 2020   9 2-7-0 238 350 68.0 2699 22 104.7 72 6 19 114 7.7 8.20 7.01 7.47 39 187 3 4.8 31
2 Andrew Luck 2012 2012 13 16 11-5-0 339 627 54.1 4374 23 76.5 70 18 41 246 7.0 6.42 6.18 5.66 62 255 5 4.1 19

and their per-game totals:

  Passing Rushing
Rk Player From To Cmp Att Yds TD Int Sk Yds Att Yds TD
1 Justin Herbert 2020 2020 26.4 38.9 299.9 2.4 0.7 2.1 12.7 4.3 20.8 0.3
2 Andrew Luck 2012 2012 21.2 39.2 273.4 1.4 1.1 2.6 15.4 3.9 15.9 0.3

Is there anyone else I should compare Herbert to here? I just chose Luck because he had the attempts record (to my knowledge, at least)

No, of course not. Nobody watches your team play, not even your fans. Its why I asked the question.

Absolutely zero chill.

And no way to describe Herbert's rookie season as anything other than outrageous. Chargers fans, I'm sure a lot feels like it's gone wrong for your squad for the past however-many years but this draft pick alone sets your franchise up for the next decade (plus). Congratulations, major success is coming in the future.

@AFlaccoSeagulls can throw Mayfield in there since he has the rookie passing td record? and Maybe Watson bc his per game stats were gaudy too before he went down injured.

Bruh, read better. This isnt a comment, its a question. Here let me help:

That symbol helps give it away. I was lazily educating myself by having someone else do the legwork.

Good comp. So he needs to up his pace by like ~10 total passes this season to exceed Luck.

I am impressed with him tho. I said that during hardknocks, but it really stood out when I saw that he won rookie of the week like 7 out of 8 weeks in a row or some madness. Dude is killing it. To bad his gross haircut is going to wreck his game with the ladies. Cant even cash in on that fame.

2000 199th overall pick (Brady) was picked off twice by the 2020 199th overall pick (Fuller).

I must say Fuller is having a heck of a rookie season from his big 4th down stop on Lamb Week 1 against the Cowboys to last night’s 2 ints on Brady one in which sealed the win. He missed games due to injury but he has looked great.

Since Bill O'Brien was fired, Deshaun Watson has been playing some inspired football...

149/210 (71%) 1,791 14TDs/2INTs. (115 QB Rating)

Watson has thrown 183 passes without an INT in this time as well (last pick was Week 5 vs Jax).

I think he's a good 'un. Get him a HC and a handful of guys who can make a difference on Defense ...and, who knows?

Up there in the top 5 for the season. I wonder if part of that is simply adjusting to life after Hopkins.

(obligatory Dak would be somewhere in the Watson/Carr range if he was included)

We saw a similar uptick with Matt Stafford, once Calvin Johnson retired. Similar stuff with Brett Favre once Sterling Sharpe retired due to his neck injury.

Once you take away a target beast who can make contested catches, QBs are forced to work through progressions and actually play to a weakness in the defense.

Watson is taking to it well.
