This is why I'm done with Gruden. Guys acts like people don't watch the damn games.

He thinks Ruggs needs to do more with the targets he gets:

Just a clueless coach who will waste a young talented player.

Honestly as a coach I can’t take often unavailable players seriously esp with game plans, preparation Etc. hr3 got injured within a week after we drafted him. Imo he also runs lazy routes. Carr literally has no reason to ignore hr3 but he has and imo it’s chemistry. Can’t develop chemistry when one party is often unavailable. Hunter shrimp self is more available and less athletic and smoking hr3 in production same with nelly.

So we are all clear, those of us that care for such things.... Ruggs just needs to pull down a couple highly difficult YOLO balls into double coverage in order to get more looks in the intermediate and underneath passing game. We're going to be here a while.

Did Gruden even watch Ruggs play at Alabama? Or just saw his 4.2 speed and decided he'd run go routes all season?

His injury did not effect his availability for training camp. In fact he was the talk of training camp burning defenders and making crazy catches look routine. Gruden even commented on how quickly he picked up all the WR spots in the offense.

Ruggs was everywhere during the team’s tightly managed practice at Allegiant Stadium, hauling in several passes on deep crossing routes and showing off his preternatural speed by pulling away from the secondary for long gains. The dominant performance was a good sign for the No. 11 overall pick from Alabama, who has sparked the offense throughout training camp.

So where did all this go? The "chemistry" argument kind of collapses on itself when it appears they had chemistry all offseason in training camp.

Ruggs was the most impressive offensive performer, and quarterback Derek Carr was sharp as well.

Further... let's not forget Edwards was seen as dominate, physical and Carr after playing with him compared him to Devante Adams ffs.

It doesn't add up. You draft 2 WRs with top 100 picks and can't get either involved in the game plan?

Wonder if we move Ruggs to the slot next year. Run Nellie and Edwards on the outside, maybe add another WR to challenge Edwards to produce....

lol... challenge Edwards to produce? Have to give him a shot at producing first.

WR group is fine. If you can get Nelly back for an affordable deal, do it. Otherwise, just get them involved. It's a good group of WR talent. Best the skills spots have looked in a decade. Need the play caller to get them going.

They’re Great when available. Edwards and ruggs have missed double digit games combined easily.

Does it ever with Gruden?

I swear to god he pulls some great andy reid playcalls and then suddenly goes back to the stone age with throw back screens and play action to witten.

This is nonsense. Ruggs has played in 12 games. He's averaging 3 targets per game and 1/3rd of his routes are go routes. He was an adequate route runner at 'Bama, so stop trying use the "lazy routes" angle. He gets good separation as noted by many analysts. He's flat ignored in the game plan and it needs to change.

Any other offense, he'd be getting opportunities he's not getting here. Andy Reid would have this guy blowing the doors off defenses.

This is similar to Amari who wasn't getting targets in Gruden's offense. Dallas feeds him the ball and he makes plays for them. So there is a history here to be aware of.

I'm not expecting Ruggs to put up 1000 yards. But 2 TDs and 40 targets is simply awful for a #12 overall pick. A sign the play caller doesn't know how to best use the player.

Last 4 games. Agholor has 300+ yds, Waller has 500+ yds. But let's force fed some rookies instead.

Nobody is saying "force feed" him. Saying INVOLVE him. Get him some touches in the game because he has the ability to break things open.

You can script plays for Jason Witten and Ingold, but can't get your top draft pick involved?

They have no plan for him. None. And it shows by his route tree. Nobody is saying throw him 10 balls. But get him in space and use him on a few plays other than yolo deep balls.

Exactly my issues. While some think I'm saying "force feed Ruggs". I'm saying scrap this BS out of the playbook and get your speedy playmaker the ball on occasion.

Witten and Ingold have 17 targets each on the season. That's 1 target/game. ONE!

Its crazy how fans demand overnight development. We have depth at WR, we should just be happy we finally have that again. Ruggs will develop, just takes time.
