After Brady won the Super Bowl last year, all the loudmouth "beer and pizza league" types immediately started spouting off with ridiculous statements like: "Brady was the only reason the Patriots won all those Super Bowls, and Belichick is an average coach who just road the coattails of the GOAT."

The fact of the matter is that they are BOTH the best ever at what they do, and they both contributed to the success of that dynasty.

While the Bucaneers are a much more complete team than the rebuilding Patriots right now, I would absolutely love to see a situation like @Matts4313talked about where Belichick somehow finds a way to massively outcoach the opponents in this game and come away with the win.  If that happened, the beer and pizza leaguers would have to eat a big serving of crow, and the argument over who was greater could go on forever!  Both of these guys are the GOAT at what they do, and they deserve to be given their due respect, on into the future.

The "beer and pizza leaguers" would do no such thing regardless of the result of this game. I've met them. They'd maintain that Belichick sucks because of his losing record without Brady - that's all there is to it for them.

Come on now.  You would really classify the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers as underdogs?

Stop it.  They would have been favored in the Saints and Packers game if they had played at home.  You basically get 3 points for playing at home, and the Saints were only favored by 2.5, with everyone realizing how washed Brees was, and the Packers were favored by 3.

It's just ridiculous to act like the Bucs were some underdog team.  They were 3rd in odds before the season.  They had Brady at QB.  Evans, Godwin, and Brown at receiver. Gronk and Brate at TE.  A top-five front seven, including the best run defense in football.  There is absolutely no need to try and downplay the team Brady played on just to prop him up.

And nobody is trying to sit here and say they were some unstoppable super-team.  But you are also acting like the Bucs came out of nowhere and nobody expected anything of them.  And that flat-out isn't true.

They were underdogs in 3 straight playoff games. That’s a fact they weren’t the favorites in either of them. Woulda coulda shoulda they weren’t at home and that’s a fact.

There’s a reason why only like 3 teams in history have won the title going on the road 3 straight times before making the Superbowl.

I disagree with this notion of if you weren’t the 2007 giants you weren’t a REAL underdog idea

Yeah, you're probably right.

There are still a lot of foolish people on both sides of that argument, people who say Brady isn't the GOAT but is the LOAT (Luckiest...)

Anyway, like you said, they won 6 SBs together because they're both GOATs. The fact that the Pats had a losing record with a near corpse at QB last year means nothing.
