NFL announces scenarios for a neutral site AFC Championship

I don’t think anybody should assume Bills or Bengals would’ve won one way or the other, that’s the point. Because the NFL didn’t declare it a tie, it allows the Bills and Bengals a neutral site for the championship if they end up playing KC. The byproduct of using that formula is that Cincinnati has to have a Coin flip with Baltimore for HFA in the wild card (if they meet).

So anybody arguing that Cincinnati would’ve/could’ve/should’ve beat the Bills last week should be pretty confident that they beat the depleted Ravens week 18 and POOF, no coin flip anyway but they still get a neutral game if they play KC in the championship. Nobody really benefits from the game not being played because all top 3 seeds and Baltimore had a potential outcome taken away from them. So all four teams basically got a bone thrown to them, if you will.

KC gets the bye (with a win)

Buff/Cin get a neutral site in chip if facing KC instead of having to go to Arrowhead (with wins)

Baltimore gets a chance at playing at home in Wildcard game if playing Cin (with a win)

The bolded is what I was arguing, and it is a statement of fact, it cannot be debated. lol

Frankly, I'm amazed the NFLPA is letting them set this precedent.  All sorts of changes on the fly mandated by the league.

and now that we know Hamlin seems to be ok (obviously he has a ways to go/likely wont play again, and this sounds cold but we have seen career ending injuries before), Buffalo should accept the loss.

Putting together a contingency plan for a nightmare scenario like this can be addressed in the offseason.

Changed the OT rules, now they’re voting on even more changes in season this time

If you think the OT rules changed because of solely the Bills you are hilariously mistaken.

These changes in season favour your chiefs more than anyone lol. And again, not solely because of the Bills, but you know, a unprecedented situation that caused a game to be canceled.

Get rid of the coinflip and Just give them a home game. Let both teams rest up this weekend.

Buffalo also a slight advantage knowing that they'll be playing for either a bye or a neutral field game.

Cinci has almost no benefit at all when you factor in the schedule next year and the difficulty of their potential WC opponent.

The NFL doesn't need to feature this game in the 4:00pm ET window. You have other options, including the Seattle game. One option would be to give CBS the Packer game (might be too late) and put the Bills/Pats in prime time.

It was definitely changed because Buffalo lost don’t get it twisted. Bengals literally went to OT the next week and won despite losing the coin toss. They certainly didn’t change it for them.

How does this help the Chiefs the most? It helps Buffalo much more in hypothetical situations and completely screws over the Bengals, when there’s rules already in place

Arguing the first half of this comment is silly, but understandable.

The second half is a clown comment.

They’re literally changing the rules in season for the bills. That’s a fact and it’s not even dressed in clown makeup

Geographically, INDY is the like choice.  certain to not be involved in a playoff game that weekend.  Other options might be Detroit, Chicago, TEN, CAR, ATL

Chicago has bad field surface and outside and both Detroit//TEN could be in playoffs.  Carolina is further away as is ATL

Vegas would also be an option.  Not a likely one, but certainly a possible one.  New/indoor stadium.  Travel hub.  Team already eliminated from playoff contention.
