A 1 year suspension is understandable if he stayed at the scene. But for him to run away and go into hiding after causing a major accident should not be tolerated. Whether or not he had guns with him shouldn't matter. Jalen Carter did the exact same thing except when he did it, 2 people died, and he still went in the top 10. The league isn't gonna do anything serious about this.

The league isn't gonna do anything serious about this. Jalen was not employed by the NFL, did not flee the scene and was given a misdemeanor in a court of law. So there was no punishment to be handed out or down to by the NFL. Situations are not the same! Edited April 1 by Nabbs4u

You're using the word "his" in "his own accident" as a way of divorcing Carter, who was in the other car racing, and the driver. I utterly disagree. This was a race - each racer is the cause of the accident. Carter left the scene of the accident that he, in part, caused. The only difference here is that we don't have the video of him fleeing the car.
Football_Bachelor08
You'd think after Henry Ruggs, players would learn to start calling a f***ing Uber.
SteelKing728
Who was faster: Rice or Addison But seriously, I'm glad he and everyone else are okay. I have a hard time seeing him get suspended over this though.

Why would you call an Uber if you’re trying to race in the streets?

I have a hard time seeing him get suspended over this though. I think he'll get suspended. Those who are saying he'll get cut, or it will be a year, or his career are done, are definitely exaggerating, though. Legal repercussions for driving infractions tend to depend a lot on the result of the accident, and with no one being severely hurt or killed, not a ton of property damage or anything, that will make this a minor deal legally. Probably has to settle a few lawsuits though, if he is confirmed to have been at the scene. But he'll get the standard damaging the shield suspension for sure. 2 - 6 games, somewhere in that range. Unless they can prove that he was driving and intoxicated, or they can prove the gun story and verify that the guns were Rice's and illegally possessed. But both of those things are unlikely, IMO.
dll2000
It is kind of interesting. 3 guys did similar things with similar intent. 1 guy is playing. 1 guy may face some consequences, but will likely play again and one guy is banished forever.

TitanLegend
Fascinating that a guy making 1.6 mil a year(thats before agent fees and etc) feels comfortable dropping like 200k on a vehicle and then racing that vehicle on public streets.
Chrissooner49er
What the NFL does is kind of moot if they truly prosecute Rice for this....isn't "hit and run" a felony in this case with so much damage done?

A car is a good investment. Right after custom jewelry. Next he should invest in starting a restaurant run by his buddy and perhaps a record label. You know the NFL holds rookie seminars that discuss this kind of thing and gives sound investing advise (unlike above).
