I had forgotten that they signed Brisset.  Then I saw where they excused him from mandatory camp.  Guessing that'll keep happening.

And if it does, that is fine.  The less we hear from Baker during this whole thing, the better it is for him.

It’s good for his image… but is it best for his career to sit out this year? Like if he has some deal where he will get his outright release heading into training camp… then yeah. Sit tight baker. But if the browns think there is a win to be had in this situation… there isn’t.

They need to do the falcon thing and get Baker to a different team and just eat their mistake.

I think it depends on what you feel is best for his career.

I'm looking at money.  He absolutely should not buy his way out of that contract.  If he were worth close to it, someone would have traded for him already.

He needs to collect all of that money this year.

I don't care where he goes, if he goes anywhere.  I don't see many places that line up nicely for him.  He had good WR's, good TE's, great running game, great o-line and a very good defense in Cleveland.  And we see what he did.

He all of a sudden going to be better in Seattle behind that poor o-line?  Sure he has WR's, but only Russ could make it behind that line without getting killed.

Carolina???  I don't see them as having half the talent that he had in Cleveland.

Get the money, let next year be what it is going to be.  Which should be a prove it year.

Wentz is at 32, Goff is at 30, Jimmy G 27.5 and Tannehill at 29. Baker is worth 24-27 mil per. The issue is he's on an option, so the full hit is due, and the Browns have no leverage, so why pay what they ask? Make them eat most of the deal.

The big question for Baker is if a team thinks he's a starter or a backup, as you could argue all 4 of those deals are a mistake. That's the biggest issue with QB contracts, there's no one between 14m APY (Jameis) and 25 APY (Brady). Teams have gotten wise to the fact you don't pay those kind of QBs. If I'm Bakers agent though, the deals are out there that say I deserve 25m per if a team starts me.

"If a team starts me"

That's the key.

I would think if someone wanted to start him, say Seattle or Carolina, they'd trade for him and offer him an extension.  Is that allowed now?  I really don't know.  But that would be a way to secure your starter and get him a deal that lowers the cap number.

So if that were possible, now, and no one has traded for him, that tells me that the other teams don't see him as much of an upgrade from what they have.  Which is silly to me, because I feel he's much better than Darnold or whatever Seattle has going on at QB.

But isn’t that the thing? If baker was clearly this… Browns wouldn’t be in this spot, he would just be the starter. Fact is Baker is good enough to be a starter… given what teams have at the position currently. He just isn’t a top guy. Like I mentioned before he is like Dak. Heck I would say; Dak, Kirk, Ryan, Jimmy, maybe throw Kyler in there. He is squarely in this group of guys that are good enough to win it all, but you need special in other areas (coaching, Dline, RB, WR, etc). The real issue is what @Packerraymond said, it’s the money.

And how this works is what team is signing up to do the Browns any favors? The second they traded and signed Watson… they locked in their hand.

Why should any team go out of their way to give them what they want for Baker? Heck I’d wait until they are forced to out right release him. That’s just smart business.

That why this is a Browns issue. They know Baker has value and decent value. But they depressed it by the deal he is on and by playing their hand with Watson. They need to figure out what is more valuable to them… getting out from that 18 million or getting back market value in assets (picks/players).

Them being the Browns… think they can get both and that’s why they are in this mess.

ESPN -  Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing all 24 women who have filed civil lawsuits against Deshaun Watson, said his law firm will "soon be joining the Houston Texans organization and others as defendants" in the lawsuits against the quarterback.

On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that the nondisclosure agreement Watson gave to some of the plaintiffs to sign came from the Texans' director of security, Brent Naccara. The Times also reported that the Texans provided a hotel room at The Houstonian, where several of the massages took place.

"What has become clear is that the Houston Texans organization and their contracting 'massage therapy company' facilitated Deshaun Watson's conduct," Buzbee said in a statement. "In many of these cases, the Texans provided the opportunity for this conduct to occur. We believe the Texans organization was well aware of Watson's issues, but failed to act. They knew or certainly should have known.

"We intend to make sure all involved in Watson's conduct are held accountable, in addition to and including Watson himself."

It wouldn’t shock me if many pro teams had some loose connection to an escort service.  It would be really dumb for them to leave a paper trail but we have seen plenty of evidence suggesting these guys operate in a cloud of ignorance.

Ian Rapoport -  The Raiders deal for Pro Bowl WR Hunter Renfrow — two years for $32M with $21M guaranteed means Las Vegas has now taken care of QB Derek Carr, DE Maxx Crosby and now its dynamic slot.

I can't be the only one who did a double take here.

Man if that’s the case raiders are wasting Carr worse than Rodgers.

At least GB has a super bowl and helped Rodgers get 4 league MVPs…

Just a guy propping up his QB. Carr isn't in the same stratosphere of Rodgers.
