Rams are going to be picking in the 20s, and those picks are 2022 and 23, so they're valued at a round less in a trade. Really not that "insane" of a haul, depending on what guaranteed money Goff will carry to Detroit, did LA pay more picks to have Det take on some guarantees?

very possible those picks could be in the 20's.   They also could be top 10.  Lot can change in 2+ years

There's the rub of it.

You know who's super pissed right now?  The Jets.  Deshaun Watson's stock just skyrocketed.

Don't think this really changes that equation.  It was 3 FRPs just to get into the door.  And then you're probably adding more to it.

This may be the first time in NFL history that a team pretty much gave a 1st round pick to another team to TAKE their starting QB off their hands, lmao.

But what's sadder....Jared Goff has the same number of NFCCG game wins as Aaron Rodgers. Ugh.

Foles and Goff both do, but hey at least we aren't the Vikings with Kirk Cousins that has 0 and less playoff wins than both :P

Agreed.  It's not some insane value for most teams.  But this is clearly a situation where Detroit knows they're going into a full rebuild, and they're giving Holmes and Campbell a rather long leash.

Lions at least now have more ammo to try and move up from 7 to get ahead of anybody they deem as a threat for whatever QB they like.

I mean, just going down the pecking order.

1.) JAX - Trevor Lawrence.
2.) NYJ - They're either trading a HAUL for Deshaun Watson or they're taking a QB here.  I don't see any way situation in which Sam Darnold is starting for them next year.
3.) MIA - Either trade for Watson or run with Tua.
4.) ATL - Still think the Fields-Georgia connection is going to be too hard to pass up even if they don't need a QB.
5.) CIN - Have Burrow, want Sewell.
6.) PHI - Have the whole Wentz/Hurts situation to figure out.  Probably not going QB this year.

And then you have Houston as the wild card team given the Watson situation.

I mean, it's an interesting buy-low candidate.  He's due around $25M for the next 3 years with zero guarantees left in his contract since the signing bonus accelerates onto the Rams' cap.  IF they can get 2017/18 Jared Goff, they could probably get at least a Day 2 pick for him.

CHI, NE, DEN, IND, SF  might be options.

Feels like there could be bidders if DET really is interested in moving Goff

Do you really think they want Goff as their future QB? They are taking fields at 7 and if they don’t then it’s typical Lions.

I am not so sure.  Sometimes a change can do a player good.  Goff is not a bad QB.  Dude played pretty well against us with a broken thumb mind you.  They may still draft a QB but Goff should and will be the starter next year.  Pretty damning that the Rams wanted to get rid of him so bad.  Does make you wonder what's up with the guy.  Big financial commitment so doubt the Lions aren't going to play him.

Wonder what Goff is thinking.  Going from LA to Det.  Can't imagine he's very happy.  I'll have to look for his presser once he gets into town.  Should be interesting.

Albert Breer -  Rams salary cap figures for 2021 ...

Rams will have to keep hitting on middle-rounders.

I really like the deal for Det. Goff is salvageable and they got the equivalent of an extra draft class in value. If they aren’t completely incompetent this they could get loaded. Worst case scenario if Goff flames they should have a loaded roster in 2 years so they can package picks in the draft for another QB.

That's what it sounds like - 2 transactions - 2 (probable) late firsts for Stafford, then a 3rd to take on Goff's contract.
