Ironically, one of the things working against Smith is that Zimmer really stresses the concept of team defense: players unselfishly do their jobs to shut down the opposing offense.  As Kollmann points out in his video, Smith would succeed in any kind of defensive system.

The Steelers had a league-best eight selections to the 2018 Pro Bowl. The Saints and Eagles each had six players selected. The Rams had five players chosen.

The Jaguars, Patriots and Vikings were among the teams with four players picked.

The fact that Smith wasn't voted in is an utter joke. I know it's not a big deal to play in the game, but as much as of a joke it is, hall of fame voters look at pro-bowls and all-pros when they consider someone and Harry not getting in this year is unacceptable. Best safety in the league this year on one of the best defenses in the league. .

If Harrison Smith played for the Steelers or Cowboys, they'd be talking about him as a sure-fire Hall of Famer.

He doesn't play in a big market and he's not a big talker.  That's 2 things working against him.  And in response to @byuvike88, Nick Shook must be a closet Packers fan, as there's no excuse for that, whatsoever.

Tight end Blake Bell said Monday he will have surgery later this week to repair an AC joint separation in his right shoulder. The procedure will be performed by George Lervick of Twin Cities Orthopedic. Bell was placed on injured reserve last Friday, ending his season. He said his shoulder has bothered him since he was with San Francisco last season; he aggravated it making a tackle on special teams Dec. 12 at Carolina.

Bell:   “It’ll be good to get it over with and get my shoulder back to normal. But it’s rough (missing the rest of the season), especially this time of the year.”

Like others have said Pro Bowls are used as a barometer for the HOF. Only reason I care about him not getting voted to the Pro Bowl. He's only got 2 pro bowls and he should really be working on his 5th or 6th.

This is exactly how I felt. Arguably his two best years, he wasn't voted into the pro bowl.

Remember the time a national show wanted to talk to one of our stars and when the team mentioned Harrison, the show said he wasn't a big enough name?

Remember how we were looking for the "Face of the Franchise" after Teddy went down?

We all kind of went that Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, and some other player route. Even Dalvin Cook after the draft.

Who do we feel it is now? Adam Thielen, Case Keenum?

We are really truly about the ONLY team in the NFL without a true face of the franchise.
