I was curious about how many people mosquitoes kill every year.

750,000 die annually.

Why can’t we just burn them all?

There actually is a way to eradicate them by releasing genetically modified males who have a 'Y' chromosome that is designed to degrade after a generation. So essentially, their kids or grandkids cannot reproduce and the population dies off

I believe they are giving it a go in Hawaii, because they are super invasive and are killing native birds

I've heard about the mosquitos where @bucsfan333 lives and I don't know if they could release enough males to make a difference though

Oh and this just reminded me there was a westnile breakout less than 20 miles from where I live

Had bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed jalapeños tonight for the first time. Holy ****.

When you get a chance, try out Gaidos in Galveston. They have bacon wrapped, shrimp and cream cheese stuffed jalapenos - I'm not even a big seafood guy, but holy moly it was amazing.

then deep fried and basted with

We've rode past there for a few times. Might have to stop in one night next time we go out to eat.

It's REALLY good - it's pricey, but probably some of the best seafood I've had, better than anything I've had in Houston for sure.
