The NFL needs to stop allowing ties in the regular season

After six overtimes OR two missed kicks through the end of regulation and a single overtime from each kicker, they should be made to both go out to mid-field and fight a 4 round boxing match to determine the winner.

At the end of OT, each team should be allowed to nominate 4 players. Those 4 players will all start on the 50 yard line, and each kicker will start at the goal line. The kicker cannot go out of bounds or leave the field. The 4 players can beat the hell out of him as much as they want.

Last kicker to forfeit wins the game.

OK we had two ties narrowly averted today. If the Titans hadn't had the guts to go for it on 4th down on their game winning drive in OT we would have seen a tie in Nashville.

And if the Colts hadn't failed their 4th down try late in OT today at home, their game with the Texans would have ended in a tie too.

These situations show that the current OT rules are not ideal.

This entire decade exactly 7 games ended in a tie. We average less than one a year. Since sudden death overtime rules were implemented (IE they just stopped calling ties at the end of games the 4th) there hasn't been a single season with more than 2 tied games.

It's not a big deal.
