Sometimes, I hate being right. Gute never offered more than a 4, and wanted Houston to pay some of the remaining salary. Does that even qualify as a college try?

What has Fuller done to even remotely consider being the solution to the problem?

This was quite an interesting spot, Andrew Brandt talking why the Packers didn't get Fuller (always enjoy hearing Andrew Brandt on the Pat McAfee Show).

Basically he is saying the issue was not the pick, the issue was that they couldn't get a contract extension for Fuller done. Paying a 2nd for a rental is too expensive. You only give up a 2nd rounder if you can negotiate a long term deal and if you don't do it then the player has the leverage e.g. Tunsil. A rental is fine if it is 5th rounder but no GM would give up a 2nd just for a few games.

That's the issue I have with all this trade talk.

Is Fuller better than who you will draft in the second round ?  Maybe.  Is he better than who we will draft in the third round ? Probably. But you have to pay him. In reality if you are giving up a second or a third you need to give him a contract - so if we sign him he may get Jones' money or King's money.

So the question isn't "is Fuller better than who we will draft in the second round" it is "is Fuller better than who we will draft in the second round plus Aaron Jones".

You have to apply that to any trade talk unless you are truly talking about a rental.  The cost of the trade is the pick and the player/s you lose to pay the guy you are trading for.

It's nice to see that Gute is out there looking to acquire players, but looking and acquiring are two different things.  If they give an award for coming close Gute definitely gets the prize.

Lol, thanks, I didn't want to be the first to say it because then people say I'm just spoiled and playing Madden, or some other dumb comment.

Gute is pretty good at trying. But at some point, you need to close. You're going to fail more than you succeed on trades overall but you have to hit once in a while, especially with Rodgers at QB. In 3 years, he's now like 0-6 trying to acquire players through trades. Try attempting to keep any normal job with those performance metrics...

I mean, is there anything to suggest that the Giants or Texans were really willing to deal Fuller/Tomlinson for legitimate fair value?  The Patriots traded a SRP for Mohammed Sanu, don't you think they wish they had that SRP back?
