Deadpulse
I think my favorite part of this show is how well they set up Daemon as the wild card. He walks into the room and you have no idea what is about to happen.

I’m going to miss young princess and queen. Old Queen and Princess need to blow us away. I’m suprised Viserys is still alive as well. He had to be. There would have been less drama if Rhaenyra had taken the throne right there – Aegon is like 3 lol Edited September 19, 2022 by Oregon Ducks
mse326
I like the wedding scene(s) but this story all felt rushed. Here's her groom, here's grooms BF, BF dies, Oh no.! Anyway... I'm nervous going into next week because Alcock has been the standout to me, so I hope the older girls can keep it going
BroncosFan2010
Outside the less than clear reasoning behind the fight, I thought the wedding scene was masterful. The episode as a whole felt on par with GOT S1-4 IMO. Best by far in this shows short run. The older actresses have their work cut out - the two youngsters were killer. Alcock especially.
JonStark
I think the fight happened because Criston was unraveling and being confronted (and basically threatened, as well as the princess) pushed him over the edge. You could see him grab his sword after the talking was over. Even though she shot him down, he clearly still loves Rhaenyra and some random guy blackmailing her probably didn't sit too well. It may come out that there was another thing that added to it but that was definitely the framework behind it.

Can't be a coincidence I just have a hard time seeing how they'll revisit it after a time jump. I guess it could just be a flashback or a conversation that alludes to it but it would be tricky to do right.
Fresh Prince
The older actresses were cast first and the younger ones second to mirror them. So I can only believe the older lady’s kill it in their role. but damn Dameon have a hot wife in Rhea all along. But she must’ve hated him from the beginning.
Ray Reed
I always take to/root for non traditionally main characters in thrones because it’s one of the few shows that lets you feel like anyone can thrive and anyone can die. My current rooting interest: the right hand man to the new hand of the king (Lyonel?) who grabbed Rhaenyra at the wedding during the commotion and is shown to be decked out as a knight in next week’s episode. edit: Found it. Harwin Strong, eldest son of the new hand of the king. Wiki is telling me in the books he’s known as “Breakbones” Strong. LFG Harwin Stron also made an appearance in last weeks episode when he grabbed Rhaenyra and let her go when he saw she was with Daemon. IIRC he was Daemon's second in command when Daemon was in charge of the Gold Cloaks and still seems to retain some loyalty to Daemon. He was elevated to commander of the City Watch after Daemon was relieved of command. He definitely has some interesting conflicts on interest and unknown motives. Honestly it calls into question Lyonel's motives as well considering he happened to be placed on the "traitor" side of the table in between the Queen and Daemon during the wedding feast.

Like that vale scene, I truly don’t know if he knew exactly what he was gonna do til he saw an opening and just spooked the horse. Seemed like he was maybe gonna leave her til she goaded him to finishing her off. It was fun to see his wife was nothing like he described, but just a very capable woman who saw through him for the miserable wretch he is.
BroncosFan2010
Ya, I expected Daemon's wife to be like 300lbs or something. She was attractive, intelligent and capable. He is just a sociopath who wanted a pairing that brought him more power than House Royce could provide.

But Alcock has killed it. Kinda a shame she only got 5 episodes but she probably gets more acting roles for it. It is an interesting structure they have going. Kinda makes it harder to care about each individual event with time flying so quickly.
Ty21
I heard the book was written essentially as a historical documentation more than a story like ASOIAF. I feel like this will have a lot of loose ends and be okay with it because it’s not trying to satisfy a typical story.
