Not sure that's the case as I've read lots of projections that had the Purdue guy going to GB in the first round. I think the thrust of Bukowski's comment was GB seems to hit the position early - or drop back to later rounds - bypassing the 2nd round most often. Why? I've no clue.....but it wouldnt surprise me if we nabbed an EDGE in the first....then move up to nail Pickens, Burks etc before they're gobbled up by others!  LOL

I would imagine that it is just where the edge players go in terms of value.  The good ones go early, the guys with warts go in the middle, and the projects go later.

Just scroll through the second round.  There are a lot of good players, but the edge defenders really aren't the who's who of the NFL. Preston Smith is the best of the bunch, and he was drafted in 2015.  There is a reason that people lament trading down for King instead of taking Watt but don't mention that Tyus Bowser was also taken in the second round (besides UW homerism).

Edges are high value from a position standpoint.

Elite prospects go super high.

Solid prospects are still mid to late first rounders.

Really flawed ones go in Round 2.

That's a lot of trades and a lot of players! Not sure how feasible but interesting.

Replace Nakobe Dean (I think he's a bit overrated--especially considering positional value), and this would pretty much be a dream draft. Also, pretty unrealistic, but that's what you get with these mock drafts.

Guys like Deebo have a short shelf life due to his physical style.  He wants 25 mill, and you have to give up draft choices to get him.

If you want that type of player, draft Burks and save yourself a ton of dough and keep the draft choices.

I'm not sure I see Burks with the staple of running plays that are designated to Deebo.
Looked them up...
Burks - 6'2 / 225
Deebo - 6'0 / 215

Though close, I dont see Burks taking handoffs / running the ball behind the LOS as often as Deebo does. Burks is a hefty dude for a WR and I'm not sure he's got the cutting ability Samuel does.

He traded out of that slot so KC could draft Dean, not us.

Agree,  he's not the backfield guy Deebo is,  we got Jones/Dillon for that.
