Finding this out now for both guys is brutal and reflects poorly on the team's medical staff. Had all offseason to figure this out.

I mean both were unlucky freak injuries. One player had an old HS injury that finally came loose (Wentz). Eagles,Colts and Wentz didn’t even know about it. While another player got his foot stepped on and found out he had a extra bone that also came loose. Horrible luck I guess.

My understanding was this was an underlying thing they could have caught with an MRI at any time. Wasn't aware of the timing of it and yeah that's tough for any doctor to know. Still sucks that it had to happen right as training camp got going.

Unless a player is complaining about pain or recovering from a particular injury they don’t do all those scans.

It is believed that the bone that broke loose in Wentz’s foot never caused him any initial pain until it dislodged from the tissue it had buried itself in.
