You guys are in good hands with Staley, IMO. His game management is easily one of the biggest reasons why you guys won.

The only exception was the last TD. The same thing happened against the Chiefs. But I was fine with it because it was a really windy today and it was Herbert’s decision to audible to a pass play to MW for the TD. Today’s last drive was different. @AFlaccoSeagulls was right and we should have just kneeled after getting the first down near the goal line and taken the chip shot FG to end the game. They got greedy and Ekeler paid the price by being shoved in.

True. Maybe he just really doesn't trust your kicker, haha.

It's a good thing but usually not sustainable.

True.

However, recently the Chargers have lost a disproportionate amount of these games, the last few years.

To start to win them could lead, instead of a 9 or 7 win season, to a 10 to 13 win season.

Glad the Chargers won. Rooting for Staley. Rough performance by his D, though. He'll get it fixed.

I guess today answers what happens when the best running offense goes against the worst run defense in the NFL 😂

Nah. Go get that TD.

Our run defense needs to shore up if we’re going to go far this year. I didn’t mind it as long as we were keeping people out of the end zone. Today’s game was an eye opener. Otherwise we have to hope we face less dangerous running teams. Hopefully Tranquil’s injury isn’t too serious also.

Losing Drew would hurt us. It would also mean more snaps for Derwin at LBer.

If you get Tranquill and Kenneth Murray back, that will help a LOT.

The bigger get is an anchor DT/NT, but it's a position that GM Telesco has largely ignored.  It would be a really good idea for him to explore the market before the trade deadline.   They're definitely available resources - it would make the D a LOT less vulnerable to have a run stuffer available, and then free up guys like Murray and Tranquill (and James) to do their thing.

And you have a legitimate gripe.

It cost them the game tbh. We take over on downs after that and ice it up 2 scores since we are already in field goal range.

Only in the NFL can you rush for 200+, throw for 300+, win the turnover battle, not turn it over, and lose

Tranquil replaced Murray. White has actually done really well in the other spot. Murray has been having a harder time adjusting to the new scheme. Injuries probably didn’t help. As for DT, I think we’re partially banking on Justin Jones coming back. Though you’re probably right about exploring all options. Joseph is a decent NT. But we probably need a better 34 DE than Covington at stopping the run. Same thing with Tillery who is primarily a pass rusher.

If they are all hurting. Hopefully they can steal one vs Baltimore and then its the bye week.

Then their nemesis... Bill Bilichick. If they finally beat BB... it's to the moon.
