The official training camp thread

I'd caution against forming opinions based on camp highlights of one on one sessions where CBs get beat badly....

TJ Carrie's tape was really good in Oakland and given the opportunity he will be a good and solid player...

Our starting CBs will be Terrance Mitchell and Denzel Ward... with Gaines and Carrie as the number 2s respectively on the boundary...

BBC will be the first man in for slot duties most likely... unless we sign Adam Jones...

How crazy would I sound if I said I felt like Desmond Harrison has a legitimate chance of being our week one LT? Assuming he comes back from his injury in time, I've spent hours cutting sound here at the station, and no one on the Browns seems to leave Desmond off their list of praise-worthy players. Even with his injury, he appears to be doing everything possible to ready himself for the season. We all know how capable this kid is, and maybe it's just the optimist in me, but I can't rule this thought out.

I think many of us are feeling the same way and hoping it is so. His movement skills are off the charts, so if he can put it together, the sky is the limit for this old young man.

Desmond Harrison is ridiculously talented. He's one of the most talented OT's in the NFL right now. He's extremely raw, but I'd imagine he will have no problems mirroring speed rushers with relative ease. He was also a bulldozer of a run blocker despite not being some 350 pound monster. Now he was playing against smaller schools, but the NFL combine showed that he wasn't just good by small-school standards. I honestly believe he's our LT of the future. Shon Coleman will probably start and allow Harrison to iron out some kinks and gain bulk to his frame, but eventually, I think Harrison negates the need for a long-term LT.

Hyperbole time: I think Desmond Harrison fills out to 305 and becomes a Tyron Smith type. No one will ever pass block like the GOAT, so he shall remain without compare.

I also personally think that the Browns want to be 100% sure that they have competent to good OLine play before he’s thrown out there.

Yeah we dont need Tim couch 2.0

Also are paying tyrod 18 million, he take a few hits for that.

I also don’t want any more excuses out of our deflective HC. I’m tired of him referencing having played the last two seasons with rookie QBs as the reason for the team’s lack of success. Let’s see what Hue’s team does with a playoff QB for a bit.

Yep it’s truly put up or shut up for Hue

Who has also struggled in camp.

That's crazy because when I watch those clips of practice, he's putting guys in the ground and looked pretty good. I honestly think this is the best thing for him to go against Garrett everyday, I personally we all may be caught up in expecting HOF play when all we need is average and I still think we can get that from Coleman and to he honest we are talking about pass pro because he is still really good in the run game.

I also think once Harrison/Robinson get back they will look good, I was especially surprised from Robinson and if he hadn't gotten hurt what would have happened. Also having Harrison is like having a high draft pick from this year's draft.

So much this.

“I don’t have temptation (to start Mayfield),” Jackson said. “Baker Mayfield’s doing great. Tyrod Taylor’s doing great. This thing’s going to play out just like I told you it would. I’m not changing.”

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson remains adamant that Baker Mayfield will not see action with the first team this preseason.

If Mayfield never plays with the ones then he will have no chance to win the job. That means Hue is putting his job on the line with Taylor, which might be okay because he is average but I wouldn't want to potentially start a lesser player just because "I'm not changing". Certainly not when you are 1-31 as the head coach with the team.

I still can't grasp the Austin Corbett pick... really good Guard prospect.... tough as nails competitor... elite work ethic and intangibles...Never... never a LT or pro tackle prospect...anyone who thought so was/is insane...

I'm just thinking of how better our roster and future would've been served by drafting WR Courtland Sutton and RB Nick Chubb then getting a true LT prospect a little later like Joseph Notebloom.

The only question is when/if we move on from Kevin Zeitler... as I don't believe that JC Tretter will play poor enough and Corbett is flexible enough to be a Center...

Sutton has lit up Broncos practices and has the media and team believing Sutton is their new WR1.

Maybe Antonio Callaway can be just as good if not better... for a rookie QB and a QB that doesn't like to take risks like Tyrod Taylor... a 50/50 jump ball security blanket specialist like Sutton would've been a nice addition especially since JG is unreliable...

It amazes me that so many are still convinced that Hue already has one foot out the door, even after the very strong vote of confidence from ownership in which the owner literally said there is no magic number for Hue that he has to reach to keep his job. So many conspiracy theories.  I can not way for this good upcoming season so the same ones that are doing this will eat crow, and post on here about how they supported Hue the entire time and knew it was a roster issue.  Figuratively swallowing Hue Jackson whole.

Your right, there shouldn’t be a magic number. For Hue he has to show more than just wins. I believe if he fails to reach 4wins he will Be canned tho. This team has too much talent to not win 4 games.

Hue really needs to show he can be valued added to the team. I like the things I have seen and heard about him. Hardknocks is going to be huge for us fans to see what he does, how he is interacting with the players, and how he is running the team.
