The rule is that you can't hit the QB in the head with a forcible blow. Not that you can't touch the QBs helmet.... So you are incorrect. That was a terrible call and anyone arguing otherwise is crazy.

He's more likely to make the FG than the onside attempt, and by wasting your TO/2mw you're essentially gambling on the 1% chance the onside works.
