Now that Pettine is gone, who should be the new DC?

Sounds like there could be a few hurdles to jump through here if we want to land Leonard.

This would be weird to consider. Everywhere you're a playcalling DC you'll catch the blame for that end of half debacle. It was a bad situation. MLF can jump in front of it all he wants, fans and talking heads are obviously going yo blame Pett and King.

Frankly when Silverstein wrote that tweet, I had no idea what point he was trying to make. Why would Leonhard care about that...

Another consideration with Leonhard is how Pettine went out. Leonhard played for Pettine and could be wary of the blame Pettine got for end of first half vs. Bucs. Maybe why LaFleur has been out front on this taking the blame for what happened since firing Pettine.

Tom Silverstein

Silverstein's just making this stuff up at this point.

Pettine should be blamed for the lousy scheme call at the end of the first half.

He's lucky Gregg Williams pulled his stunt against Oakland earlier this year or else Pettine would be favorite to win the ESPY for worst defensive play call of the year.

There's no such thing as the Badgers paying assistant coaches well. He makes a fraction of what he'd make as an NFL DC.

ya this is pure conjecture from Silverstein. If he wasn't willing to leave Wisconsin, he wouldn't be interviewing with GB.

Exactly!  Also, if he was miffed about the way LaFleur cut Pettine loose he wouldn't have taken the interview

Huh?

Probably the easiest way to get a raise from your current employer is to be sought after by another organization.

UW has limits on how much they can pay assistant coaches.  The SEC pays way more because they don't have those limits.  Coaches have left just for that reason.

It’s similar with schools in like California. Like state schools... they have a certain limit for positions to be paid as they are state/public schools. Like it was a big deal years back when UCLA (state school) paid Mora Jr. because at the time he was like the highest paid state employee.

But private schools like say a USC or Stanford can pay whatever they want. I guess however much the donors will allow.
