That roster is trash. +++ Their safeties are 2 6th round picks (Woods and Wilson) and a career journeyman (Thompson), none of which have ever proven to be NFL players. They cut Brandon Carr yesterday Their CBs are a 2nd round rookie (Diggs), a career depth guy on a 1 year deal (Worley), a career dime CB (Lewis), and their "best" guys (Awuzie and Brown) are on IR. And neither Awuzie or Brown are what anybody would consider to be good. Their ILBs aren't much better. Jaylon Smith has been hot trash through 4 games coming off signing a huge extension. Joe Thomas (y'all remember him) has arguably been their best performer on the defense this year. LVE has been injured or out all year. 31 year old (hasn't played in 5 years) Aldon Smith has been the other candidate for best defender and has played well but not super. Everson Griffen is straight washed up. Demarcus Lawrence has a knee injury and is having his snaps limited on top of just not being the dude he's been since signing his big deal in 2019. Dorance Armstrong is the only young body they have in this group and he's very mediocre. Trysten Hill has been trash and is really only starting because they don't have anybody else. Dontari Poe is 30 and has now been on 4 teams in 5 years. Tyrone Crawford is 30 and has been invisible. Antwaun Woods is an adequate run plug and not much else. Gallimore isn't giving them anything as a rookie. +++ Their Corners are too ****ty to play them without protection. Their DL is too bad to stop the run with a light box, and honestly too bad to stop it even when evenly matched. Their pass rush is just Aldon Smith. Their Safeties are so bad that they don't really assist much wherever they're utilized. The ILB corps they were banking on cleaning up a bunch of mistakes just isn't that good right now with Smith underperforming, and LVE and Sean Lee injured This defense is old, expensive, injured, and frankly not that talented. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
