fattlipp
Jets fans are kinda like the guy that has been walking a desert for 2 days with no water, they come up to a drink stand and they have a 5 dollar dollar bill in their pocket and they haggle over a one dollar bottle of water. Lol if they walk away thirsty and die 50 steps later from dehydration, but hey, that bottle of water was only worth 75 cents.

PossibleCabbage
Really, the people who say "what if Aaron Rodgers shows up at OTAs or shows up at training camp to want to compete for the job" really don't have a very good window into the mindset of Aaron Rodgers (something the Packers have a lot of insight into.) It's pretty clear that he's already moved on and decided if he plays this year it's going to be for the Jets. Since he's not somebody who will change his mind in the face of contrary evidence despite prizing himself on being a "free thinker" until he has the ability to be in the Jets building, work with the Jets coaches, etc. he's just not going to worry about football. If that "not worrying about football" period includes training camp or the entire season, then so be it.
4evergreen
Packers will not get better than a second this year and conditional second or third in 2024 from the Jets. That's better than any other team is willing to give up for AR's contract. Take what you can get now or you will be stuck with one unhappy player with horrible contract. AR will not retire. He already burned the bridge with the FO.

Unfortunately, the Packers can't afford to eat much more salary. The Packers are already pressed up against the cap as it is. Right now, Green Bay is somewhere between $23.5M (OTC) and $24.5M (Spotrac) in cap space. They add an additional $8.7M in cap space by trading Aaron Rodgers plus about $3.9M to account for their draft picks, so that numbers drops down to somewhere $10.9M to $11.9M in "available" cap space. You'll have to add about $1.5M for roster spots 52 and 53, plus around $5M for in-season moves and the Packers are closer to $5.9M to $6.9M in "actual" cap space. As far as creating cap space, the Packers can extend Rashan Gary (not likely), restructure Rasul Douglas and Jon Runyan (minimal savings), or trade Darnell Savage (again, not much value there). Douglas has already been restructured. Gary will probably be extended around the same time Jaire was, that will give us a little more cap going into camp for in-season. Overall yeah, we probably have room for a single 3-4m cap hit. Whether that be Amos, a TE or a vet QB.

To recap- @HighCalebR describes a revenge porn fever dream he had in which the Packers go scorched earth on the league by waiting until days before Rodger's option date to "settle" for 2 3rd rounders. I remind him that GB can't wait that long else face the consequences of Rodgers contract by stating that in a scenario where GB waits that long it would be the Packers itching to sell at any price. @TransientTexan misattributes 1/8th of my quote to Abraham Lincoln and then you call it all stupid. Interesting to see how the comp shakes out in the end...

GB has 171 days to avoid financial calamity by trading him or getting him to retire (I don't see the retirement angle on this). If the front office waits around hoping for another interested party, that is a huge risk to take if one never materializes... You clearly have no idea about that contract and frankly shouldn't speak about it until you do if you want to avoid future embarrassment.

If that's the endgame situation for the Jets, why would they offer up anything of value now? If you truly believe that Rodgers would show up and collect that $59M option bonus, and that the Jets are the only suitor that will even entertain the idea of acquiring Rodgers, why offer anything of value at all?

Some of us don’t like quote bloat that takes up half the page.
