As McAfee loves to point out, Murphy has already said if they don't get what they want he could see Rodgers on the team.

Yes, he gave away that we WANT to move on, but he also recognizes the value of Rodgers. Idk why McAfee and Jets fans think that means Rodgers is free.

I find it interesting that we never heard anything about Love being shopped. Its not like the packers were just doing diligence on all potential avenues while rodgers was in darkness.

There was no talk of Love for a first to help rodge run it back. This org feels so highly about love

Why in the hell would the Packers decide to have Rodgers come back?  IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON ..  it's Love time.

Packers fans seem to be under the impression that if not traded Rodgers would retire and thereby walk away from 60m guaranteed? Criminy. My understanding is also that if the Packers keep Rodgers for the 2023 season and THEN he retires, they get hit with almost 70m in dead money in '24.

Rodgers CANNOT be on the roster next season. They absolutely HAVE to trade him.

I wonder if there is any provisions in the contract that would limit the dead cap implications if Rodgers were to retire.  Could GB get some of the signing bonus/option bonus back and get some cap refund?

They can theoretically swallow the $70m in 2024. It would be painful, but they can do it.

In a vacuum, that's an extra 30 mil of dead cap and whatever value the Jets would have given up. If the Packers do that everyone should lose their jobs.

Nah. None of this matters for the FO keeping their jobs. They are tied to Jordan Love's success. It doesn't matter one tiny bit how this Rodgers situation turns out for them for them keeping their jobs.

So is GB just supposed to accept a “conditional 7th”? F that. GB could take their lumps in 2024, & then be home free in 2025. cut Bak & Rasul as expected, then add a couple restructures.

& NYJ FO can kiss their jobs goodbye.
