ramssuperbowl99
I was all ready to trash the Panthers for not just paying Brian Burns his money, but that's not a terrible deal.
iknowcool
Seeing this just makes me wonder more why the 49ers gave Gross-Matos 2 years 18m?
TheKillerNacho
surprised he decided to sign with a rebuilding team
Ray Reed
He had probably the best year of his career last year, but it's reasonable to assume a good part of that was just him finally not being on a dumpster fire franchise and him actually being motivated to play hard. And no offense to Panthers fans but he's going to a team that's probably way closer to those dumpster fire Browns/Seahawks/Texans teams than last year's Ravens team. Still worth the gamble at this $ IMO but Panthers fans really gotta pray he stays motivated Edited March 27 by Ray Reed
Humble_Beast
Back to Carolina..... Solid move by the Panthers. Now bad for Clowney
Ozzy
Sucks for the Ravens, he was a beast on that team last year and combined with Van Noy they were huge for that pass rush. Without them all they would have had on the edge was Oweh and not sure he is ready to take a jump as a player to replace either one of those two. Between the two of them Clowney and Van Noy they had 18.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 9 passes deflected last year. Both playing on the Ravens for a combined $3.9 million dollars. Curious what they do with Van Noy and if he is gone how they fill that edge issue. Clowney was awesome though on the Ravens, but of course he is a freak show talent when he is healthy and motivated. Panthers have a solid edge group with Wonnum and Clowney then Chaisson backing them up. And Jewell in the middle is solid and Shaq Thompson is super versatile when healthy, then Derrick Brown in the middle and adding A'Shawn Robinson. They are probably sick of off the field distraction type DEs opposite Bosa after Chase Young and just want upside developmental guys ready to compete for snaps. They also gave Yetur a weird contract that is 1y/3.5mil then option year at 9ish then dead money (5mil) future year 3.

Only thing I could figure.
SteelKing728
His career numbers minus the touchdowns are very underwhelming.
JaguarCrazy2832
Not a bad move for Carolina
AFlaccoSeagulls
His family is from there and he gets to be close to home and make good money. Seems like a win/win for a mercenary like Clowney who doesn't seem motivated to play for a ring.
El Ramster
Throw the whole panthers franchise away. Trash moves 24-7.

Clowney fooled another foolish franchise into big money. Guaranteed this was the best value by far for him to sign and so the mercenary strikes again. He'll play "fine", +/- 6.5 sacks and solid run defense. Good for him to cash in one more time? 🤷
