I think you need some reading comprehension.   the postmaster general and Board of governors are not the same as potus and congress. Some people can understand they is a different they in each context. Others.... well they have 33% of sheldon's IQ, at best

I'm not the one who is basing absolute opinions on press clippings. I understand this is a very fluid situation and nothing is set in stone.

How you've missed that theme over the past few months is moreso impressive than embarrassing. You should be proud.

Speaking of reading comprehension...

Well POTUS has said he will not allowed them to be bailed out.  Congress has done nothing yet to address it.

You reference the stance of POTUS/Congress in your position. Then you say that referencing them shouldn't be taken in context of this discussion. So, which is it?

I'd say stop while you're ahead, but you've been behind in this thread since you went after the MoL @mission27 and @TLO

So true

Lets be honest, anyone who goes after the MoL is gonna get wrecked, including when ET did it in Big Brother, although the MoL loves ET deep down and we forgive him big league

Ah, yes. I just remembered that. Fun times. Sorry about that, too.

Lately, we've been on a roll - MoL and ET. I imagine this is like when Clooney and Pitt ran into Bernie Mac in Vegas and said "You know what would be cool? Us making a movie about robbing a casino..."

It just clicked. I really think we're on that sort of vibe right now.

The Clooney and Pitt comparisons are spot on from an aesthetics perspective but you're a little better looking than Bernie Mac tbh

I appreciate the shine, you beautiful bastard. However, to quote one of the greatest philosophers of my time, Mr. Christopher Wallace: "Heartthrob? Never, black and ugly as ever..."

Bernie Mac was - and is, postmortem - a King of Comedy, it's a dream to follow in his shadow.

4/15/2020 MoL Scores:

Methodology and disclaimer: MoL score is a simple metric for measuring rate of spread of the novel coronavirus within communities.  The metric was developed by mission and TLO and has not been subjected to academic peer review.  The MoL looks at a trailing average of daily new cases and compares this to trailing active cases within the community.  These rankings do not represent the opinion of anyone other than mission and TLO and should not be taken as advice of any kind.  Please note while the numbers themselves are objective calculations, smugness and Taylor Swift lyrics may factor into our commentary and decisions on tiers.  The MoL reserves the right to make changes to this methodology at any time.  Please follow all relevant governmental and/or WHO/CDC guidance.  We will defeat this virus.

"'I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me falling for it screaming that I'm right
And you would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine
"

- Taylor Swift

Like I said yesterday, there really is a Swift lyric for everything.  We'll miss ya buddy.

Today the disclaimer is holding strong as Hong Kong takes the #1 spot with an all-time record low and South Dakota continues to be a complete disaster.

Tier 1: Outbreak under control, safe to begin relaxing social distancing measures

Hong Kong: 0.8 (Hong Kong is our new #1 at an ALL-TIME low of 0.8, wow!)

South Korea: 0.9 (three straight days below 1.0, great job)

Australia: 1.4 (another all-time low for Shady's people)

Czech Republic: 2.2

Austria: 2.2

Switzerland: 2.9 (fyi, yesterday's number for Swiss was overstated, it should have been 3.0 which is why we moved into Tier 1)

Tier 2: New case growth is minimal suggesting social distancing is working, likely a few weeks away from breaking into tier 1

Portugal: 3.5

Italy: 3.6 (yet another low)

Germany: 3.8 (Germany breaks below 4 and gets ready to re-open their economy)

Israel: 4.6 (p-bump risk, keep in mind)

Denmark: 4.5 (interesting note - if you looked at active cases, you'd assume Denmark and Sweden were around the same penetration per capita, despite Sweden's relatively lack of distancing, however Denmark has half as many deaths and has done twice as must testing)

Netherlands: 5.0

Spain: 5.2 (a bump up but don't focus too much on one day, and an MoL around 5 is the steady state anyway, if we see another wave it'll be in 5-10 days or further out)

France: 5.3

Sweden: 5.3

Iran: 5.8* (I'm convinced these numbers are completely fabricated, but I don't doubt they are seeing progress)

Global: 6.1

USA: 6.2 (USA is now smack dab in the middle and a major driver of our 'global' number of course)

Philippines: 6.6 (Philippines have been flat for a week now, not a horrible number but not great)

China: 7.1 (stabilizing, not terribly concerned yet)

UK: 7.7 (UK jumps into Tier 2! now its worth pointing out there testing still lags way behind other countries, so they may not be able to get this number down much further if they are also simultaneously ramping testing, we shall see)

Belgium: 8.0 (two steps forward, one step back, yet again... all time high case count, but could be a result of changes to criteria as we've seen before)

Canada: 8.0 (Canada doing ok, they've plateaued, but like the US we will need to see a drop before we can consider easing restrictions)

Brazil: 9.5 (data here seems spotty)

Tier 3: Countries in this group that are showing increased MoLs have the potential to go deep into the danger zones, but countries with falling MoLs may only be a couple of days from tier 2 status and may have already peaked in gross # of new casesJapan: 11.1 (last two days have been very encouraging tbh)

Turkey: 10.3

Ireland: 11.5 (big drop as the testing-related bump flushes through our active cases trailing number)

India: 14.5

Mexico: 15.0

Note most of the Tier 3 countries appear to be relatively stable, with the exception of Turkey which has shown a noticeable slowdown.  If anyone has suggestions on who we should add let us know.

Tier 4: Aggressive growth, still likely have not peaked in single day cases, and likely a week or two minimum from peak in deaths (however many of these countries are still slowing down)

Russia: 22.8 (think its safe to say Russia is firm in the danger zone and the next hot spot, although Moscow doesn't yet look quite as bad as New York or Milan in the early days)

USA State Level MoLs

pafrzqd.png

Ah, look at that, Oregon is improving.  Who would've thought a one or two day blip wasn't a big deal.

Other than South Dakota its generally pretty positive.  Some of the Tier 3 laggards like Rhode Island are showing gradual progress. NY went up a bit because of the reporting criteria change but doesn't change their overall trend.  Louisiana has slowed dramatically the last week.

We'd even like to thank @pwny @Glen and others for their critical attitude because of the attention it brings to the great work MoL is doing

What are your guys’s thoughts when people will start going back to work? I would be surprised if it’s before June 1st.

There’s going to be major uproars if this goes past May. Michigan’s already protesting and they’ve only been on lockdown for 3 weeks.
