I can't imagine anyone falls for McDaniels again.  It's one thing to get a 2nd chance, but he's been so abysmal twice already I think the NFL is done with him as a head coach.

He'll get a shot as an OC. But that's about it.

Probably goes back to the Patriots as a "senior football advisor" like Patricia and in line to replace BOB when he leaves/gets fired, unless Belichick himself is gone by then.

With the first domino fallen my thoughts on the job security of the other head coaches through eight weeks:
Safe through 2024 barring an unforeseen disaster
Tomlin
Harbaugh
Carroll
Reid
McVay
Shanahan
Campbell
Sirianni
Pederson
McDaniel
O'Connell
Unlikely but possible before 2025 if ownership gets impatient
Belichick
McDermott
Taylor
McCarthy
Unlikely this year, but needs to improve in 2024
Vrabel
Smith
Saleh
Daboll
Possible this year
LaFleur
Stefanski
Allen
Bowles
Playoffs or bust
Staley
Dead men walking
Rivera
Eberflus
Too early, but trending in the right direction
Ryans
Steichen
Gannon(?)
Too early, but trending in the wrong direction
Reich
Payton

The seat of Brandon Staley is very hot....The chargers offense score a TD in the last 5 drives but it was not enough for this defensive coach!

Come on man the offense only needs to score 42 points to win when you have a defensive mastermind as head coach.

Should Bill Belichick consider retiring? He's just not able to get it done without Brady. Was it a case of right place, right time, did Brady carry him?

Pats are 2-8. I'd think a legendary coach would get it done regardless? No?

Through Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season, Belichick has a record of just 82-98 without Brady as his quarterback. That's good for a winning percentage of just .463 and pales in comparison to what Belichick has achieved with his long-time quarterback.

Bill Belichick Wins Losses Winning % Super Bowl titles (as HC)
With Tom Brady 249 75 .769 6
Without Tom Brady 82 98 .456 0

if tennessee looks like they did today for the rest of the season i think there's a decent chance vrabel's gone. lack of talent is one thing, but vrabel preaches effort, physicality, and smarts and this team is displaying absolutely none of that. they look completely lifeless and soft. whatever he's doing isn't working.
