Exactly, now obviously it just so happens to have landed on the NFL's favorite division, one where preseason hype has still been very much alive, which means fans will be exposed to it. For the other divisions I showed, they were relegated to TNF, MNF and given league minimum primetime slots. Out of sight, out of mind, not being talked about in the media. So I can understand being extra annoyed at the unfair treatment, but NFL is $$$ fueled... just gamble on the games if you need to make them enjoyable because they aren't going away. See you boys Thursday night, and the Sunday night after that, and few Mondays later you'll be treated to the GMEN, and don't worry we'll be back again several Mondays from now, and then the following TNF you're in for some Dallas magic (if you haven't already overdosed on their GOTW 4PM kickoffs). Jotun_Fan Posted October 21, 2020 Share Posted October 21, 2020 I think both East divisions get a lot of hate, it's probably mostly due to how much airtime they get and people hate the pats. People will claim the AFCE was the worst division in football for 20 years that's why the pats were so dominant, yet the pats had better records v. the rest of the league (playing a 1st place schedule every year,) and the other afce teams I believe had over a .500 record v. other divisions. The NFCE gets tons of airtime, and every year the cowboys are listed by major sports publications as super bowl contenders. Over the past 20 years you can usually count on either the eagles or cowboys having a good squad, this year seems to not be the case, injuries haven't helped. Aside from two good postseason runs, the giants and redskins have been consistently mediocre or bad for almost the last 30 years, both owners really don't know what they're doing. Like someone else posted, other divisions have had some pretty horrendous multiple year stretches, it's just no one else in the league pays attention because that week 15 matchup of 2-11 seattle and 2-11 st louis isn't nationally televised. One thing that makes this years NFCE kind of intriguing...do these teams try to buy or sell at the trade deadline? The Cowboys lost by 3 on the road to the 4-2 Rams The Eagles beat the 3-3 SF 49ers in Santa Clara The Steelers - Giants game was 16-10 after 3 quarters. So the Cowboys got their butts kicked in a game where Zeke fumbled 14 points to the Cardinals in the 1st quarter. Get over it. It was not that much more boring than KC beating the crap out of Baltimore on MNF. Chiefs vs Hoyer/Stidham was another absolute classic. Chiefs vs Texans in week 1 was even worse Last year the Eagles beat Green Bay in Lambeau in a highly entertaining game. Eagles - Giants was not exactly a pro bowl matchup but the game went to OT. Sure, they got crushed once by Dallas The Cowboys had 3 competitive primetime games last year (even if the Saints 12-10 game was a bit ugly) They also crushed the Giants. A team could go 15-1 and then 1-15 the next year and be .500. It doesn't negate that the 15-1 team was dominant. I was pointing out the number of bang average/poor Division Winners the division has had as an indication that the division itself was weak in many different years this past decade. The point is that other teams have to EARN their primetime games based on the previous season or their current success for flex games. As hard as NFC East fans want to try, there is no way to justify the number of primetime games they get purely based on the quality of the teams/matchups...for the simple fact that they are scheduled in huge part based on their market sizes. Giants face Tampa Bay Washington with a bye Giants could be looking at 1-7 Philly will either be 2-5-1, or 3-4-1 Dallas will either be 2-6, or 3-5 Either way, the Division leader AFTER next week 8, will only have 3 wins.
