Didn't something similar happen to Detroit when they played Tampa a couple weeks back? NFL basically made them play the game as scheduled with some random assistant as the head coach. As much as I want this to be an option, the NFL would be walking a very fine line. Even if he is asymptomatic, I have to feel there are some big labor issues here. You know that if they made it an option for him to do this, it isn't really an option, he would have to. If he declines he will get nuked by the fans and the browns would be throwing him to the wolves. There are serious rules about cell communications between coaches inside the stadium - it was either CLE or ATL that got busted for it and fines were levied. The NFL is so uptight about it, they use scanners during the game to make sure no communications/ unknown bandwidths are communicating during the contest. So its a big no-no from the leagues' POV and maybe that's why such a simple solution hasn't been pursued.
