Either an error in the workbooks, values set too strict (imo), or I just don't understand the min/max issues involved in the extension process. He's got $19,000,000 in unguaranteed salary for 2023. APY demands wouldn't be the issue they are if you had more flexibility with when player was getting the money. But you don't, he expects that amount every season (including current year), and the bonus you pay doesn't sway him. Buckner actually wants more this year than he's currently owed (even though almost none of that is guaranteed), even if I guarantee him another $50,000,000+. Current cap hit is $19,750,000 Your signing bonus is 51.5m which is 10.3 million prorated for 5 of the 6 year extension. Now for where the hit is coming in that seems to be messing with everyone is the difference between the old and new contract base salaries. In this case it's 17.5m (prorated 3.5m). For the Exclusive franchise tagged players, the teams have to reserve that money on their cap until after round 1 of free agency, when they are free to do an extension, right? The NFL only allows bonuses to be prorated a max of 5 years. So when Mahomes signed his 10 year deal, the signing bonus applied to years 1-5. If you already owe the player money for this year, he's happy to turn it into signing bonus for cap calculation purposes but you can't get him to take a paycut that way. Thats part of the CBA rules. I deleted that last part. No deadline for restructures and extensions. Correct for non exclusive and transition tags. Exclusive tags I allow them to extend immediately after. Perks for paying more for that tag. Perks for paying more for that tag. How are they paying more for the tag? Are they required to keep the cap number in year 1 at the tag amount or something? The Exclusive tags cost a lot more than non-exlcusive IRL and I thought the penalty in TCMD was the tag money wasn't available for round 1 of bidding?
