Guidelines

Alright I put this together pretty quick so if you have questions about any of it, post those questions here so we can make the wording clear or change anything that doesn't work.  This also explains how to use the workbook so hopefully it helps.

TCMD Members

Workbook - Tasked with keeping the master workbook up to date.

Draft Board Manager - Assigned to updating the draft board to include the draft order.

Committee Members - Responsible for determining the likelihood of a player restructuring or extending their contract and trade approval.

Team & General Manager

Team Roster Workbook

  • Each GM will receive a workbook that you can use to keep track of most of your transactions and salary cap.  This workbook will also be used for free agent bidding.

    • In the Team Roster sheet you’ll be allowed to edit three columns;

      • Trade Block (Column A) - if you check the box it will add the player to your trade block, which can be viewed in the Team Trade Block sheet.

      • Obtained (Column F) - You’ve got 4 options, Original, Traded, Released, UFA Resign and FA Sign.

        • Original is used if the player was listed on your roster at the start of this mock, this will display the contract info of the player, including base salary and bonuses.

        • Traded is used when you acquire a player via trade, this removes the bonuses and only displays the base salary.  Do not use this for players you are trading away, only for players you are acquiring.

        • Released, use this for releasing players or trading away players, this removes all of the salary from the roster.

        • UFA Resign - Use this option for retaining one of your players at the cost of the expected APY value, listed in column Y.

        • FA Sign - Use this to show you’ve added the player to your roster from FA.  This will display the amount you signed him for.

    • Other sheets within the workbook

      • Player Database is linked to the master workbook.

      • Draft Order is linked to the master workbook.

      • Team Trade Block -  Displays your trade block

    • League Trade Block - Allows you to view the league trade block which you can sort by position and team.

    • Free Agency Bidding - Allows you to select UFA or Resign in column D, depending on the type of free agent you select will either display only your team’s free agents or the complete listing of eligible free agents.  Use column S to enter you bid amount, which if awarded will show up on the master workbook as base salary.

Roster Limit:  In this mock you are working toward a 53 man roster, but cannot exceed 90 players.

Calculating your salary cap

We are keeping this as simply as possible, no top 51, no calculating accelerated future bonuses or the likes.  Simply focus on the Cap hit in column X, if you release a player you minus the cap hit shown or if you add a player add the cap hit to the available cap.  If you use the workbook provided it’ll calculate this information for you.

So if for example the Cardinals released or traded Chandler Jones if would save the team 19.5 million.  No dead money is calculated into this system.

You start out this mock with your Active players as well as all ERFA and RFA players on your roster.  ERFA / RFA players cost you nothing to keep, but if you trade them the new team acquires them at the vet min.

You’re allowed to resign one player at the beginning of the mock at the listed APY value or at the transition tag amount whichever is the greater value.

Trading Players

The only players you aren’t permitted to trade is the one freebie resign and the players you acquire via the free agency.  Either UFA or Resign. Everyone else if fair game.

Each trade must be posted in the Trade thread for approval by the committee which basically just insures that you have the funds available.

Free Agency Bidding

There will be 10 rounds of bidding with each passing round the players required APY Value will decrease 10% until the player reaches vet min.

Making a bid on a player to resign gives you a 15% increase in the amount you offer, making it easier to retain your own free agents.

You have a total of 5 bids per round which you can bid on any available player you wish.

Highest amount offered wins the bid.

In the event of a tie, a rebid is required which tie bid will send me a new bid, if the bid continues to be tied after this, the committee will determine the best location for the player based on the teams current roster.

NFL Draft
A Google Doc draft board will be available to everyone, this link will be housed in the draft thread within the forum.  The Draft Board Members, will update the board as the draftees are selected as well as update the draft order as draft picks are traded.  In addition, to what we are calling the master board each team will be provided a copy that is linked to the master board for their own private use to create big boards should you wish to use it.

Note:  Teams are encouraged but by no means enforced to negotiate trades prior to being on the clock as waiting until you are on the clock simply slows the draft down when teams are waiting on a possible trade that likely isn’t going to happen.

Within the draft board doc, a complete list of declared draftees will be collected from the cbs sports draft website, should you not see a player within the list that you believe should be listed, you’ll need to notify the Draft Board Managers as soon as possible.  They will determine if the player is eligible to be drafted, if so he’ll be added to the list of draftees. Please DO NOT wait until the time you make your selection to notify us as this could delay the draft and if the player isn't eligible could cost you a draft pick or at the very least picking late.

  • The first pick of the day starts at 10am EST. The last pick of the day ends at 10pm EST.

  • Every pick will be allotted a 40 minute time slot to make your selection.

IMPORTANT READ:  The 10am slot is now permitted to make their selection after 10:40 PM, meaning the last pick of the night no longer has the luxury of sitting on the pick.

Remember, the clock stops for no one.

Should you miss your time slot, you may make your selection at anytime, but if you wait longer than 24 hours, the Draft Board Management will make the selection for you but also be aware that if you continue to miss your time slots, your GM status will be removed and you will be replaced with a willing participant.  This applies to the later rounds as well. If the Draft Board Management makes your selection for you, we will not change the selection made should you return, no exceptions.

  • Compensatory Draft Picks

    • The projected listing from overthecap.com will be used to determine draft pick compensation.  Once the compensation has been determined any updated version or IRL listing will not be used as teams may already have traded these picks.

Yea, I think they should be posted in a separate transactions thread. Organization is nice ^_^

I'm leaving this to you guys to get set up along with posting details of the rules and what you guys are looking at to approve these transactions.

Once I get these last few GM's their workbook and the link is created by the committee members we'll open up this mock draft.

Still working on the schedule but expect the draft and free agency to open up this weekend...most likely Sat.

The New York Giants have officially hired ny92mike to become the franchises General Manager, the ownership has given this new GM complete control of the franchise.

In his first move as General Manager, he has fired the previous GM Dave Gettleman better known to his fans as Mr. MaGoo.

The Giants are also considering at looking to move back to a 43 defense so if you've got pieces that would help the team achieve this hit me up.

We're looking for true 43 DE, age isn't a huge issue but they at least still need to be productive.
