Last year we signed most of the PS + some street free agents to a futures contract.

This year just half of the PS is signed and also signed back WR Chris Blair and QB Danny Etling off the street.

What's funny is we protected Anderson and McIntosh when we cut Keke and yet just a week later they are not given a futures contract. It definitely means we're going to be looking for more DL in the draft and FA.

A little surprised at Ben Braden. They liked him enough to bring him back multiple times and in training camp there were whispers he might have a shot becoming a starter.

Could any of these be guys sliding off the eligibility list?

If Rodgers goes from $46M to $29M, the ability to get Adams in at $12M for 2022 is doable.

$40M over, gain $17M from Rodgers extension.  Now $23M over

Cut Z Smith 15.28
Cut Cobb 6.85
cut Crosby 2.4
cut Preston Smith 12.5

Total 37.03

Extension for Jaire could gain another 5-8M ($13M currently).

Still could restructure Clark, Bahktiari

Extensions to Amos

Option to cut could also include

Cut Turner 4
Cut Amos 7.9
Cut Lowry 3.9
Cut Lewis 2.4

Total 18.2

So....using these numbers our offensive line up next year could be:

WR- Adams

TE-Deguara

LT- Bak

LG- Runyan

C- Myers

RG- Newman

RT- Turner (4M for starting RT is cheap)

WR-Lazard (him or MVS should be affordable)

Slot- Rodgers

RB- Jones AND Dillon

QB- Rodgers

Don't know or count on Jenkins next year, but that's an ace in our pocket too.

Our defense would be minus the Smith boys, but we only had one this year anyway.  Extend Amos and we are pretty solid on the back end. Gary and Clark are building blocks up front. Draft would have to extend depth on the defensive side.

This team would easily make the playoffs coming out of the North.

Peter Bukowski -   PFF agrees with Bob McGinn that some of the pressure/sacks against the 49ers were on Rodgers. The 35% pressure rate he faced was well above his 26% season average BUT He had 3.8 average time to throw in the divisional round, above his 3.64 season average.

Bigger issue was clean pocket where only Big Ben, Jalen Hurts and Ryan Tannehill were graded worse in playoffs than Rodgers. He started to drop his eyes, didn’t trust his protection even when it held up, and narrowed in on Adams rather than reading things out. Not ideal.

If we don't have the Smiths perhaps we could resign Mercilus for one more year?  From all accounts he is a good leader in the clubhouse and could take Z's place there in the locker room and on the field and not cost a fortune.

Anyone that has accrued enough game time to not be first level pay were not re-signed. The effects of the Packers 2022 cap issues have entered stage one.

There’s going to be a lot of bargain basement shopping coming up. Hope fans are ready when some of the issues start popping up but I also hope we unearth and polish some gems.

In a perfect world, the Packers do what the Patriots just did. Eat a year of mediocrity in a bad cap year and then restock in '23.

Also draft well. That would help too.
